Suki you're allowed bad days. X my MIL is the same, she's housebound so naturally doesn't have much of an appetite....unless it's a choc biscuit of some sort, code words 'wouldn't you like a biscuit with your tea' actually means 'I would like a choc biscuit'

I wonder if there's something in our DNA as we get older that changes our appetites. As historic hunter gatherers as out bodies age, we no longer need carbs to store energy for hunting or protein so much I guess either, but gravitate to high fat food like animals getting ready to hibernate / lay down fat for future energy. Sorry...rambling now.

Dinner here tonight was breaded haddock, with beans and mashed spuds, plus mashed swede. OH having a bit of a carp time ATM so tried to cook a bit of a hug on a plate for him.

Mushroom risotto with grilled salmon here

Edit: Just found 6 chicken thighs in the fridge that DS begged me to take out of the freezer, so he could make a curry, then never did

Will make chilli garlic chicken with steamed rice instead

Risotto etc will be made Saturday :D

  • No cooking for me tonight - three birthdays in the family over the next couple of days, DS's 21st, a niece that will be 17 and a BIL too so seven of us are going to a nice pub/restaurant for dinner. :)

Suki - I was going to ask if you'd even fallen out of love with Dave and Si ;) but I've just read your posts about your Mum.

    She sounds like my Mum.
My sis is her carer and sometimes I wonder how she (sis) manages to stay so cheerful.

Tonight we're having jalapeno sausages with bubble and squeak Polly-style (i.e. cobbled together).
It has potato, savoy cabbage, leeks, onions and I've added some chestnut mushrooms as I have some to use up.
I'll add black pepper and oregano and stir in some horseradish and top with cheese.
I'm going to cook it in the oven.
