Last night we finally finished off the remains of the Christmas turkey, served with stuffing, yorkies, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, spring greens and gravy.

Tonight we are having tomato and chorizo pasta with a sourdough baguette.

Thanks for the get well wishes. Today is filled with a rather annoying cough but I'm back on 90% appetite so things aren't too bad 😁
I think on balance I'll use the potato masher and bear with a wooden spoon for fluff when it comes to mash in future...unless I cba  :disappointed:

Tonight OH made pasta which was lovely to have someone else cook.  <3

We had lunch out, in a town a few miles away, just a coffee and a toasted sandwich, but it was outside a coffee shop and without a coat. It was lovely.

Made a salad for dinner with new potatoes, chicken and mozzarella.
Whilst out there was a local green grocer, selling small avocados at 6 for £1.  So they made an appearance on the salad.
Given up cake, chocolate and biscuits for lent so we had some greek yogurt and raspberries afterwards.

Tonight I made a nut loaf, using mixed chopped nuts, steamed butternut squash (mashed with plenty of salt, pepper and dried sage), red onion, mushrooms, garlic, dried cranberries and an egg to bind, served with cheesy mash, yorkies, buttered steamed cabbage & leeks and an onion gravy made with very slowly caramelised onions.

After watching the very delightful Stanley Tucci exploring Italian cooking OH is determined to make a proper carbonara tonight.

Obviously we can't get the proper ingredients (some extra lovely Italian pork) so he'll be winging it somewhat.  He has stated that he intends to do small bowls of noodles rather than the massive ones I'm normally presented with (thank goodness says my waistline!).  Thing is we were in Whatrose and he spotted some extra special linguine which he decided to buy.  I expressed some surprise at the £3 price but he said it should be special as I'm on holiday and besides it's only £1 more than the normal Whatrose packet.

I decided not to point out that what he bought was £3 for 250g whereas the store brand stuff was only £1.80 for 500g.  And I do know he will likely use the entire pack for the 2 of us.

So if you hear reports of a beached whale on the south coast think kindly of me as they push me back out to sea.

@Brie we've just had an Italian Deli / Restaurant open in town - I am yet to visit it but from what I've read it's all home made pasta - nom nom.

Speaking of which - I think it's pasta here for us tonight too - albeit a slightly more modest portion of 29p penne

Sounds lovely @Brie, I love unusual authentic pasta, cooked in a big pan of water as salty as the Mediterranean sea.
We have an Italian deli in a town near us and I love a coffee and a sandwich made with focaccia bread and Italian cheeses. Such a treat.

Tonight we had a stirfry, noodles, tender stem broccoli, mushrooms, cashews, edamame beans, Chinese mini snacks and the meat eaters had salt and chilli pork.
