    Happy birthday @arielgirl 🎂

Lots of ins and outs later - football matches, school meetings, scouts - think I have a window of about 30 mins to throw a spaghetti carbonara together and at some plates. With broccoli hopefully.

Happy birthday @arielgirl! We had Dominos pizza delivered on Monday for a working lunch in the office. I’d spent the morning thinking I didn’t really fancy that, but once the boxes were open I was SO HUNGRY. I think takeaways of all kinds have that effect, don’t they.

Tonight we are finishing the lasagne I made yesterday. I had to stop Mister CJ from going back for seconds last night so that it would last for two meals each! He wasn’t happy.

Jacket potato cheese and beans. Cooked another couple of spuds too whilst the oven was on so they can be reheated another time. Trying to cut down on energy usage where possible
I've done this in the past and am never sure whether it actually saves much.  Obviously you can freeze and then thaw or nuke it.  What I normally do though is before freezing split the potato in 2, scoop out most the innards, mash it with chopped onion, cheese, herbs, bacon etc and then ladle that back into the skins.  Much less fuss next time as it's all sorted as a side dish.  But also lovely so I prob eat twice as much as I should.

  • We're having toad in the hole using a Richmonds kit. Don't usually use packet stuff but this was free via a shopping app (buy for £2 and get £2 cashback). Will serve with roast potatoes, veg and onion gravy.

I have a second steak and ale pie that I made the other day, so I will defrost that and serve with a shed load of veg which I got from the community fridge yesterday - packs of tenderstem broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, mushrooms and baby rainbow-coloured carrots (all from Hello Fresh).

I’m going to make a black cherry clafoutis for puds over the next few nights,
and might even bake a cake as my hens have started laying properly again and there’s a bit of a glut!
  • We are having scampi, mushy peas (Frozen - brilliant from Iceland), Homemade Chips & Tartar Sauce - still using food from my Freezer.
