  • Chicken curry tonight (a la jar of Sharwood's Madras sauce), with rice, garlic naan and onion bhajis.

Not feeling 100% so cream of tomato soup with bread and butter tonight.

Also made a veggie chilli for in the week and got some croissants out of the freezer for bread and butter pudding to use those up. Want to try and clear some bits that have been hanging about in the freezer for a while whilst there's actually room to move things in there.

Pad thai with duck spring rolls for OH and vegetable ones for me.

Followed by jam roly poly and custard.
  • I had an M&S ready to roast turkey breast in the freezer (always get one in October in case something causes problems with Christmas).

We were able to have Christmas dinner with my family so we had the turkey tonight with garlic roasted potatoes and greens. I was going to do pigs in blankets but forgot to get the sausages out to defrost so decided to (reluctantly) give them a miss.

Still working our way through the Christmas chocolates.

  • Roast beef for lunch, made a beef massaman with the left over beef and I have some home made broccoli and blue cheese soup for later

The (fairly local) Community Fridge was awash with all sorts of free goodies yesterday morning - I picked up potatoes, leeks, shallots, red onions, mushrooms, red and green peppers. chillies, aubergines, carrots, cauliflower, tenderstem broccoli, lettuce piccolino tomatoes, avocado and sweet potatoes (as well as bread, fruited tea loaf, chocolate chip shortbread, mince pies). It's all in completely perfect condition, most of it from the nearby Waitrose, and I can't believe that it would otherwise have ended up being sent to landfill.

The tall freezer in the garage doesn't have so much as 1cm spare space in it now - my plan was to inventory it this week, but it seems a bit overwhelming right now.

I am turning lots of the veg into a vegetable cheesy bake for tonight and Monday, and making some cauliflower cheese to go with the roast pork tomorrow.
I wonder if you live near me I volunteer for the community fridge and it’s near Waitrose
  • Got some reduced beef mince in Waitrose yesterday so combining that with cheese sauce from the freezer to make lasagne!
