Remember it doesn't need to be "nutritious polish, leather for the use of" but Nivea has been shown to work & any moisturiser that you may have forgotten, outgrown or generally let get over its use within Q months. Just not the tinted sorts...Matron_Midge said:Thanks very much. Hope I get as much use out of mine. I shall use some leather cream on it.6 -
Many many moons ago, seems like a lifetime, I was fortunate enough to be in Italy and bought a leather holdall (?). Think Gladstone bag but huge. I asked the owner what to use to keep it beautiful. He handed me a massive pot of Nivea.AKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo
According to a lovely poster I am Bala the Brave who wrestled a Tiger. You know who you are.....

Well, I never knew that!! Next time I'm a little bored I will collect up all the odds and ends of samples/old stock etc and give all my bags a going over. Thanks for the tip.balabooberlies said:Many many moons ago, seems like a lifetime, I was fortunate enough to be in Italy and bought a leather holdall (?). Think Gladstone bag but huge. Today's meander found me in the community chazza where I found a pair of B/N, Clarks, light navy patent shoes with a very small wedge heel and flat bow on the front, could not resist at £5. Also, got a B/N tan leather belt for £1, (very useful for jeans!)6 -
ooh I just spent a happy 20 minutes catching up! I have been out and about with my Magpie eyes...
First stop was a post seaside town on the Suffolk coast (I'm sure some of you would be able to guess where; famous for their fish and chips...). There were only 2 charity shops there but I found a Nicole Farhi 100% silk skirt in the Sue Ryder for £7.50! It is LOVELY and it's yet another reason to wish it was summer. Navy with a pink-ish pattern and the side zip is set at an angle, which somehow makes the whole thing very luxe! I also bought a couple of jumpers.
Yesterday I went to posh local town near me before I had a hair cut. Found a pair of New Balance trainers in my size for £6.99. Look hardly worn and in a lovely shade of pale blue - I already have my eye on spring. A pair of Nike light blue Dri-fit leggings for £4.99. Not sure about the colour of these but my life right now is dog walk/boot camp/repeat to infinity, so these will go under my dog-walking trousers when very cold or be used to lounge about the house.
A Gerard Darel shirt for £5. I LOVE a bit of Gerard D; the kind of label I can only afford secondhand. Cream, short-sleeved with navy piping and a v-neck with zip. Tres chic. We are having a reaching-the-end-of-term-ish posh dinner tonight (delivery from a fancy restaurant) so I might wear it for that.
A cream Banana Republic slouchy jumper for £5.50. Strangely, despite being covered in mud most of the time I have recently bought secondhand cream gloves (from Harrods originally, no less!), the cream Gerard D top and this one. Ridiculous, but if you're not buying new it doesn't matter quite as much if they get destroyed.
A white (so impractical - what was I thinking?!) lightweight waterproof jacket by Trespass. It was tucked away in the Men's section but it says 'M' 'Size 12' so I am sure it is a woman's one. Lightweight, waterproof, breathable, should wash and wear well, which will be essential given the amount of mud I will get on it...
I need to get some secondhand stocking fillers next week (for MIL; she will appreciate the upcycling and does have some new presents, too!) and I fear for my wallet...
A very satisfied, head-to-toe white, Magpie100

Will be useful for working from home type stuff using the phone. I got a Plantronics headset for the computer last year.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.6 -

a Boots royal jelly brand new with items hatbox for 2.49.
I pick up items for a charity auction later in the year. My best buys still have to be the Jo Malone soap, in a bag with 2 other soaps for £1 with a bomb cosmetics bath bomb and a mouse cheese slice that I picked up for £3.
Both the mouse and the Jo Malone soap went for £10 each in the charity auction.
There are some rich pickings out there courtesy of Ethel

Not bought anything for months but today...A Castro Black long sleeved checked shirt for OH. £2.00 Air Ambulance. Not heard of this make before but it looks very well made, patterns matching and contrast fabric to inside cuffs and collarA pair of thick M&S treggings in a brown square check pattern. Lovely fabric, look unworn. I think they are treggings rather than leggings as they have a feature side zip. £3.99 Oxfam3 boxes of Thorntons dark chocolates, only 8 chocs but delectable sounding - Sicilian mousse, Seville caramel etc. On the cusp of best before date but only 50p per box. Will polish off before the end of the festive season.A TUI 3/4 sleeve jersey short dress in a Rennie McIntosh design, very colourful. £2.99 BHFAnd......a glass Christmas bauble for £25.00.
To put this into perspective, it's a brand new in box with label & ribbon attached Waterford Crystal one and I've seen one very similar on Amazon for £103.73.
I only have glass baubles on my tree and I have some that I bought from the top of the Twin Towers in NY 10 months before the terror attack. And a Macys 2000 and 2015.And some from Harrods. And some from Cairo. And some Dartington crystal icicles. And some that I bought from a local flea market that we think probably started life as part of a chandelier. And some with painted reindeers on sent by a friend from Canada. And a Benjamin Chee Chee (Canadian artist) one of Canada geese (I have this one on permanent display with my glass perfume bottles and this Waterford one will also be).
