Picked up a children’s Christmas baking kit for 2.99 today(with recipe book, cookie cutters and 48 cupcake cases). Going to put it away for a present for next Christmas. Again from BHF.
I find the expensive shop to be Red Cross shop, don’t get many bits from there.
BHF have a section where u can really dive in and have a good mooch. They said today that they are expecting another glut of things after ChristmasDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Now I have a bit of a dilemma and would like to ask for advice before I commit myself to making a big mistake!! . . . . The Phase Eight dress, however, definitely needs a 'refresh' but, you've guessed it....dry clean only!!!.. There is no way I'm gonna pay for a £3 dress to be dry cleaned so do you guys think it would survive a wash...hand wash/machine wash??? The fabric composition is 52% polyester, 36% nylon and 12% elastane with a 100%polyester lining. Would you risk it? Helppp pleeeaase5 -
DigForVictory said:Yes, but as soon as the cycle's done, out with it & be ready to shape it in case the lining has gone a different path to the dress fabric. As if it all goes horribly sideways, (a) you still have the Country Casuals number & (b) betcha Albert looks sensational on grape velvet...
Many thanks everyone for your input re the washing dilemma. My nerves failed me re the washing machine so I did a gentle dunking in liquid hand wash, (didn't have any dedicated stuff! for hand washing clothes!). Then did another dunk in pongy fabric conditioner. The dress seems to have survived intact, tho much die loss, and even without signs of shrinkage...yay!! Still waiting for it to finish drip drying but all the signs are hopeful.6 -

Miró you've done exactly what I was going to suggest i.e. a gentle dunk and swishing rather than rubbing and I am very impressed with both your finds, lovely colours for this time of year I thought.
I happened to be passing my favourite BHF this afternoon and just popped in to browse/talk to another human and bought Nigella Express in hardback £3.50, Uncle Dynamite by PG Wodehouse £1.50 and Wildlife Trusts Complete Garden Bird Book £1.00 as well as a pair of Nike navy leggings in size 8 for £5.99. I was really looking for another sweatshirt/jumper but didn't see anything I fancied.
ETA: thankyou to Sayschezza for those tips.2 -
The pair of you should have a design column/show! Cashmere over velvet & a few toys. I suppose people would look bemused if you were to take a cat into a cs & the two of you browse...
Miro, you are one of the best dressed people I know, it tickles me that your cat also has a sharp eye for massive styleMiró said:I've spent the last few days trying to find a freshly washed chazza cashmere cardi. I found it this morning....secreted behind the sofa where said furry hooligan had dragged it from the clothes airer. He had formed it, rather artfully, into a rather luxurious nest - along with a selection of 'toys', (hair bobbles, pens, leaves, half the contents of the Christmas tree etc).

To be informed when talking with a newish "boyfriend" who goes fishing, I've bought an M&S book "The World of Fishing" by John Bailey who seems to have written a lot of fishing-related books. £1 from local hospice shop. (Possibly £15 (used) on Amazon.)7

Have bought a pair of black size 10 Craghoppers trousers which have the pockets made of shocking pink and also, mysteriously, the back half of the leg hems on the inside. Cannot understand why as during normal wear this detail does not show however the trousers make me look both snake hipped and long legged and cost £6.99 which I consider a bargain. They came from the Age Concern shop which I passed on my trudge home this lunchtime."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
