Denby maplewood pattern 6 teacups & saucersLittle Denby hors d’oeuvres dish rectangular but with octagonal corners, in that dark brown that says check the basestamp I could be over a century old...A length of American Christmas fabric sewn into a bag (which I propose to unpick for Festive face mask usage )A gents shirt, mask linings for the use of& (not from a charity shop alas) an Anglepoise lamp which needs a little rewiring (so little even I should be able to do it) as a birthday present to myself. They had a red one too, but it needed a lot more work & anyway some design classics are deserve to be appreciated in monochrome. (I love the way it’s looking out of the bag at me, almost quizzically.)

As you do.The little dish sounds nice.I have a one that I use for used teaspoons next to the kettle and a larger Sandalwood one (similar era to your Maplewood) that I keep my various pepper and salt grinders in.

Page 92. Pollycat, (sorry, I should have added a page ref!) and not one of the most exciting patterns, very Colouroll, but under a fiver for 12 pieces - well, when I finally Get Around to cataloging the lot (again - actually another full lock-down & I may rent the Scout Hut for the space - I'd have to take annual leave though) it means I have a better chance of assembling a teaset or three for the lads to chose from.
A little dish for teaspoons - Genius Idea! Yes the little dish is about the right size for that but I think I'm minded to treat it more gently as it's definitely 1950-1975 (scroll on basestamp, not quite as old as I'd thought!) and when I manage to get at the chest of drawers and coax that drawer with the tray of little Denby dishes for olives etc open <ahem, blush>, it's that sort of shape & size. What I cannot recall is if it's that colour. Probably not, but something the right shape & vintage means searching a (currently not needed!) replacement is easier.
I'm not sure I could emulate Miro & carry a piece with me for colour matching, but carrying a phonesnap with dimensions & base stamp, definitely.
One of our offices had a Sandalwood teaset for visitors - clearly the senior bod of the day had an individual style! Over decades it got eroded to a few mugs & by the time the office closed they had all found new homes rather than risk a skip. Have to say I think someone had had a tap to the head for naming that quarter.2 -
A little tour yesterday resulted in a sage green cardigan from Cos for £5.95, a grey polo neck thin layer from Laura Ashley for £2.50 and a denim skirt from crew clothing. The last looks barely worn and was in the BHF half price rail so was £5.99 with 50% off. Wouldn’t have bought at full price but at just under £3 worth a go. I was in a really lovely town yesterday and one of the hospice shops had a celine vintage jacket but they wanted £75 for it, so I had to step away! Lots of queuing just to get in the charity shops - clearly lots of interest, more so than the new clothing stores...5

I've picked up a Cos silk tee in a lovely olive green, 3 athleisure tops (new workwear wardrobe!), a DKNY sweatshirt, a Kate Moss Topshop jacket (which is gorgeous), a red Zara Trafaluc dress (c/w inspection stickers), a pale pink BNWT H&M cotton sweater & a pair of BNWT oven gloves, all for £31.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I can see you on the catwalk in the oven gloves.

Never heard of Cos before so will have to investigate even though I don't need any more clothes. Going back to the discussion on coats, I only ever seem to accrue and not give away. I'm looking forward to wearing the new ones I bought this year. I still cannot get over my burgundy Regatta bargain, I love wrapping myself up in it and going for a seaside stroll when the weather is doing its worst. The other day I had a good chazzer haul via 3 shops: 7 books, a BNWT cream blouse, and pair of copper wire baskets for one of my new bathrooms for £6.
Eta: just looked at the Cos AW catalogue online and find the clothes to be unflattering and ridiculously priced. I prefer clothes that would make me look like a sack of potatoes. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -
I am struggling with the "less than a coffee" justification - mostly as I haven't bought a coffee in months. Should I try the £20 a month allowance as if a Pret client?!3

Poor you Miró life round your way sounds really frightening, sending you best wishes and as many g and ts as you feel medicinally necessary.
Magpie100, Floss and Rosa Damascena congratulations on your latest hauls but, like Rosa Damascena, I do wonder about the Cos clothing. Does it look as though it's a piece of clothing on the hanger and when you put it on does it flatter you? I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry just now when viewing their AW20 women new arrivals; knitted paper dress with more holes than fishnet anyone?
Night all, goldfinches.
PS on Cos again; why label something mulberry silk, there surely aren't any other sorts of silk are there?"She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

I bought a Cos top last year, (from a chazza, natch!), but it is a very strange and unflattering shape ..... sort of square and boxy. Only bought it cos I liked the fabric and I also wanted to try the brand. Not impressed!
Don't know too much about silk but I've always thought Mulberry silk was the best quality. Rather like Egyptian cotton is in the cotton world. If the chazza fairy is listening I would love a pure silk pillowcase please.... supposed to be good for the skin & hair.4
