More Charity Shop Bargains for 2018 & beyond!

Did the rounds of all 10 of my local charity shops today and only had to queue once, (pffft, that's gonna change in a week's time when all the students arrive!). Anyhoo, got an M & S midi skirt in a mid brown shade, slightly flared and buttoned down the front, on the sale rack for 99p. Still had the tags on but those old stylee ones so someone must have had it in their wardrobe for some time. Strangely I saw a very similar skirt in M & S's new winter stock earlier in the week when I went to have a squiz at their sale, (rubbish!). Planning on wearing it with tan leather knee boots & belt and a cream cashmere polo neck sweater, (chazza finds natch!). Then in the community chazza I got a cut crystal, pot bellied jug for £3 - it passed the 'ping' test and holds about 2 pints and I will give it to a friend for when we have Pimms in the garden
(Why are pot bellies nice on kittens and jugs but not so good on humans??)

Chazzer mission successful! I picked up 3 books for £1 and a couple of towel rails - a bit like the image below, but "scrollier" - for £2

So much to read, so little time.5 -
I've also been chazzaing and have had great success. There must be something in the water that got missed out in Sam's area.
This morning I called in to Barnardo's and found a wide, squat 1litre pyrex jug with scales still clearly marked on both sides and a lovely sturdy handle £1.50, an as new hand towel £0.50, a hardback illustrated guide to DIY and decorating £1.50 and Delia's Chocolate Collection also in hardback £1.00. The Delia's book had an amusingly grubby cover with absolutely pristine clearly unused content which did make me chortle.
Then this afternoon I was passing BHF in the town centre on my way home from the library and when I called in I was rewarded with unused John Lewis branded Salter digital scales that not only tare but weigh in g, ml, lb oz and fl oz! The liquid measurements are only applicable for water based liquids but it's still a huge improvement on my digital cookworks scales plus these have a much bigger and heatproof weighing platform so I'm over the moon and all for £6. I also snapped up a Dunoon large size china mug in a pretty star print £6, a useful small tray £1, a medium size pyrex mixing bowl £3, a Rose Elliot low sugar, low fat cookbook £2 and a Geoff Hamilton gardening advice book £2.
So I'm a happy bunny this evening and have already discovered that I have all the equipment and most of the ingredients for Chocolate Sour Cream Cake so I'm thinking of sloping off to bed early to read about lovely things I can make for my friends and neighbours to scoff. Sweet dreams and happy chazza finds to all, goldfinches.6 -
I love it when you get a "you person" haul. Someone who shares the same interests or fashion sense so you end up having to have it all 😂

Just on the subject of Cos - I agree that their website makes everything look laughably bad (even the models look fed up). But, I have doubled down this week and bought a Cos jumper, too, from a charity shop. It was £15 in a pricey area of London, but is 100% wool and in a colour (yellowy green) and shape (Cropped, with a layered detail at the front) I love. I understand how it can all look very odd on the hanger, but I feel like their stuff is quite unusual and not run-of-the-mill without being ridiculous, is good quality secondhand and looks good on (but I would say that!). It also seems to have a reasonable resale value. I do think you need to try their stuff on - it has no hanger appeal, but I am always surprised when I try it on.This week I have found a pair of black Clark’s boots for £6. Ankle-length, with a v-cut at the front, perfect condition, and a new balance top to add to my extensive collection! £3.75 from BHF which really is noticeably pricey these days, but still better than new. Good to hear everyone else is out and about and finding bargains! Am living in fear of another lockdown for so many reasons... so will keep hunting for bargains while I can...8

What are your local chazzers doing about returns?
Went into one today and as well as the standard not trying things on, they’re also refusing returns. I don’t really want to be forking out cash for clothes that don’t fit and losing the money. Wondered how common this was? It’s a particular issue with trousers for me.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -

No, they said it had come from head office guidance so wouldn’t change until their guidance did.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I've been to a local "village" today - ordinarily there are 5 chazzers within a spit of each other... only one was open. Another is only opening weekdays, two are still closed and another is now permanently shut.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
