dolly84 said:You are all getting some lovely things. I have only bought a couple of items this year so far, I am hoping to have killed the charity shop bug dead, I still plan to shop there but I have to stop buying clothes, I have so many that I just don't get to wear the things I love often enough as they are on such a long rotation with all the other stuff I love. I just don't want to feel like I have to be going round them all the time or I might miss something.
Today I found this jacket for £6.99. Handwoven, 100% cotton, looks unworn. Still in stock new for £69. This is why I can't give up bargain hunting - the finds can be soooo good! https://images.app.goo.gl/MkbMLdiXsgE4Rf7r8
A pair of Vivienne Westwood 'melissa' boots. I was almost hoping they wouldn't be my size when I saw them in the window! But they were. these are PURE indulgence on my part. £16.99 so not cheap, but even the flats in this material and style are £69 on Amazon. I looooove them! https://images.app.goo.gl/g4xRdznwQGoqdVeo9
A beautiful cream jumper (care label cut out) with navy and gold thin bands of stripes. By a brand called Cortefiel, which I'd never heard of. I am laughing at their description of their target market on their website: 'it targets men and women aged between 35 and 45 with a youthful outlook on life and an open, enquiring mind.' So THAT'S why I was drawn to this jumper! That and it being £4.99 and in pristine condition.
A bright red Jack Wolfskin base layer. Labels cut out; high necked, brilliant for boot camp. £4.99.
Sigh. Must. Do. Better. M100

I see a lot of the green Beryl, I think at one time every village/church hall in this area was well stocked with it. It's generally quite cheap and I used to have quite a bit of it until I moved to a smaller house and redonated it! Still use the plates and a few dishes and jugs. Good luck with your search.Slightly bitter4

Possibly named for the stone 'beryl' which includes emeralds and aquamarine.

Regarding Beryl ware the names are after his daughters and wife I think. I have seen it in Yellow Blue and Green. Iris Beryl and I forget the third one. I actually like it and we still use it at church.

I think it may have been a whimsical way of describing the 3 colours...Once upon time there were three sisters in the Wood’s family: Beryl, Iris and Jasmine. Beryl was the most popular, spotted at many a tea dance and well known with her lovely mint green colouring. Jasmine was not seen quite so often but with her beautiful yellow colour way she too was very popular. Iris, with her soft blue colouring, was perhaps the quietest of the family, and certainly not seen as often as her sisters.
