On a footwear related note, I cheerfully admit that you almost certainly have to know them to love them (& cope with the inevitable banter that comes from wearing them), but Himself pulled a blinder with a pair of clogs. Yes, lump of wood for the sole, leather uppers & a padding of rubber to reduce the clonk walking. £127’s worth apparently https://www.clogs.co.uk/derby.htm& if they’ve been worn more than an hour we’ll be quite surprised.
My find of the day was a pure Italian silk shirt with a tiny geometric pattern in bottle green/navy/plum/white. I misread the label and thought it was by 'United Colours of Benneton'....it was, in fact, by a company called 'United Nations Colors'! (Must visit Specsavers soon). Anyhoo, I am pleased with said shirt which was £4.75 from the Sue Ryder shop.3 -
A quick spin round the charity shops this morning before the weather closes in and I batten down the hatches for the weekend. A few bargains (and one indulgence!):
https://images.app.goo.gl/Qnfs8qRrAVqVBbcx8 this top, but ion mint green and black. In Sue Ryder, reduced from £2.95 to £1.50.
This top from Vero Moda, although mine is only silver sequins, not multicoloured: https://images.app.goo.gl/Qnfs8qRrAVqVBbcx8
This was also in Sue Ryder and the woman serving me was puzzled as to why it was marked down on the sale rail, as it is BNWT and an RRP of £28. Priced at a pound! Will put this away for next Christmas.
A cropped jacket from Therapy - an evening jacket style. Metallic thread. I really like Therapy for their cuts and style and this was £4.95.
A dusky pink blouse from Sisley. Really pretty and good quality and cut. This was £2.74 in the BHF sale!
A cropped evening bolero jacket in navy by Damsel in a Dress. Very like this one: https://images.app.goo.gl/hDGpFArKdbCBx5rH9. £5.99 from the Salvation Army.
And finally, from the designer rail at the RSPCA a pair of Gerry Weber straight-cut jeans for £12.99. My jeans struggles continue and I can exchange these if they don't fit as they don't have a changing room in the shop.4 -

I did quite well on a visit to a local pretty affluent area on Thursday. In Sue Ryder I got a blue and white striped M&S shirt for £2 and a pair of jeans for £1 (all tops and jeans/skirts were reduced to these prices). Best of all in the same shop I got a virtually brand new pair of 50 peaks (by Hi-Tec) walking boots for £5. I am always looking for a scarf with bicycles on it. You guessed it I found one for £1.99 in Barnados.5 -

Miró said:I used to do a lot of hillwalking in Calderdale and we often used to call in to the Walkleys Clogs mill for a cup of tea and a wander around if we had a long wait for the train home from Hebden Bridge. (They had lots of arty crafty shops and a cafe in the mill too.) Loved it at Christmas time - they had fab Christmas decs tho I seem to remember they had them all year round!5

I have been hankering after pastry forks and a denim jacket with a faux fur lining for ages so was delighted to find both in the same CS for 99p for 4 forks and the jacket for £3.59. Also a pair of navy canvas Converse £3.5

Miró said:Came home with a pair of Hobbs 'Odella' navy trousers b/n and priced at £7.99 in Age Concern. Took a chance at the fit cos I could not be faffed with unburdening myself of all the winter wear to try 'em on but they fit just great and was pleasantly surprised to find them selling currently at £110 (tho reduced to £75!).

An expensive trip to Otley today but one which sparked joy.
Started small with a leaf green elbow length t-shirt from the St Gemma's 99p shop. Then in the BHF shop I found an Aquascutum, knee length slightly flared skirt in their signature brown/tan/beige checked wool fabric - priced at £5.99. Lovely fabric and beautifully made. Sauntering on to the PDSA shop I found a pair of navy, pure linen, wide legged trousers from the Pure Collection. Brand new, even had the 'returns' tag still attached - priced at £4.99. I almost passed them by as they were labelled as 'short' and I am over 5'9" but I decided to try them on and much to my amazement they touched the floor!! Dunno how 'shorties' get on with Pure Collection stuffThey are these.....

Finally I went into the Oxfam shop and caved in and got the Denby Whisper teapot that I have been keeping an eye on for the last couple of weeks, (cracked mine about 10 years ago). Dunno if it was a good price or not at £6.99 - have seen a couple on Ebay for a similar price but they always seem to incur heavy P & P charges as well. Anyone know how to clean a teapot spout??? I've cleaned the inside til it looks pristine but I can see some staining in the spout. Have attacked it with a cotton bud and it's now soaking in soda crystals to see if that helps. Any other tricks? I'm sure the likes of Lakeland must do 'teapot spout brushes' but I aint paying their prices
Seem to be a lot of regulars MIA on this thread now6 -
for the teapot spruce i would suggest full submergence of spout in water with a bit of lemon juice in it give it a good soak then use a cotton bud or small bottle brush to shift marks
in the cr shop they had x5 dvd for a quid...cheap half term entertainmentonwards and upwards5
