My afternoon visit to the PDSA shop started out
but ended up
Been looking for a pair of bottle green leather gloves for ages - saw some in M & S, priced at £22.50 but the colour was not quite right, (paint shade card deployed!). Was really pleased to find in the PDSA shop a pair of Primark, (did not know they sold real leather ones), gloves that exactly fitted the bill, priced at £3.45 and brand new. It was a bit difficult trying them on as they were fastened together and also fastened to a card sleeve thingy so I just tried one on, paid and left. Got home and snipped the ties and tried the other hand glove on first and it was huge!! The one I tried on in the shop was nicely snug. They, Primark, had only paired a S with a L  So cross as they were just what I wanted but now don't know what to do...would feel very odd to wear them as they are...would feel really mean to take them back and ask for a refund and anyhoo I have removed the plastic ties and the packaging. Harrump!!0 -
I love charity shop shopping as does my DH! We went to our local hospice shop and they were having a massive sale.
I managed to get a Peppa Pig puzzle set and farm book for my nephew's birthday, as well as 3 jumpers for work (dark blue, black and white striped and purple) and a bottle green puffer jacket coat (I've been looking for a replacement coat for a couple of months) all for the grand total of £5.94!
I even said to the assistant that didn't seem right but she said they were the sale prices. I was so chuffed!0 -
Hit the shops yesterday with my wee sister who is visiting from Oz. She's an avid "op shopper" as are her kids so whilst I wasn't buying, it was great finding bits for her
A lovely Laura Ashley dress (NWT), a beautiful per una cotton cardi/jacket and a huge river island scarf with pockets relieved her of £8 and. she was delighted
She was after some gym clothing but lucked out. Im did see some in a shop in another town so I might get to run her up there tomorrow for a quick look0 -
DH wanted to hit the charity shops yesterday on our dvd hunt, we ended up buying a solid pine wall cupboard for the kitchen, it's a small one probably about 2ft wide by 4ft tall with one door and a little shelf underneath, a corniced top and a sort of wavy bottom like the top of a dresser has - ours for £4.
Then I ended up buying a Pachamama cardigan, these are very pricey new, it is pink with a high neck, 100% wool and hand knitted in Nepal, it has a big daisy on the back, one on each sleeve and two to the front - £6.99.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Look in Primark.
A couple of weeks ago I was in a large-ish city and they had rows of the green ones in small reduced from £8.00 to £5.00.
I went through the whole lot to find the softest pair. Massive difference in quality.
At the till, they went through at £3.00.
I compared them to a £20.00 pair in TKMaxx and they were just as soft. Stitching and lining will presumably be inferior.0 -

Oooh thankee....I'm passing through Harrogate this afty and they have a huge Primark! I have only ever been in a Primark once in my life and that was when they were doing a Jo Malone lookee likee perfume. (Never been in a MacDonalds, KFC or Greggs either...missing out on a whole side of life me, obvs!!). People must be snapping them up to sell on at £3 a pair! I have spotted a pair on FleaBay priced at £1.35 but with a horrendous postage charge if all else fails.0 -

But still good value at £5.00.
I buy tights from Primark, they have a whole range of denier.
They used to do lovely colours like teal, grey, burgundy, mustard but these seem to be disappearing.0 -
Went over to Huddersfield for the market & charity shops. The loot included a lovely copy of the Hackney Scout songbook, two sets of 5 bamboo knitting needles, and (drum roll) a Bourne jelly mould (basestamp puts it between 1905-1920), a Denby Troubadour large oblong dish & to my incredulous delight 10 Denby Sahara teacups & 8 saucers. All within Aquiz Committee guidelines!
Himself pulled a blinder with an art set where the brush alone is width more then the price of the set and there’s still a sealed pack of the Bockingford watercolour paper, and the paints, and the water dish...
Sons have seen me lug another heavy bag carefully in & rolled their eyes, as they made us both a much needed cuppa!0 -
Oh, and Harry & Megan?
I’m not judging.
Just noticing their commemorative chinaware has appeared in the charity shops...0 -
