I think that Shuropody took over a lot of the scholl footcare places, a quick google suggests they brought scholl footcare around 2008

Thats interesting cos I did wonder about that. They seem to have footcare shops all over the place just as Scholl did. Thanks for the info :)

    Sorry....me again :o:o:o

Trip to Otley today and on my wander around I found another travel guide book, (Baedeker), with a great little map of the country tucked in the back pocket - St Gemma's Hospice Shop, 50p.

Then in the weird 20p shop I had a rummage through a bunch of 20p scarves and was delighted to find a silk square with a geometric pattern in dark and light turquoise. Then I saw the name 'Jacqmar' in the corner and was instantly transported back to my childhood when I had a favourite aunt who collected Jacqmar scarves and she allowed to play with them sometimes. Sadly it's not one of the wartime propaganda, (WW11) or London Souvenir scarves, (50's) - having just done a quick bit of online research I believe it may be from the 60's as that is when Jacqmar brought in geometric patterns and the way the Jacqmar name is written also fits. It's in quite good condition if it is that old having just a couple of small pulls which will probably iron out. The edges appear to be beautifully hand rolled too.

I also called into the 20p shop's other outlet over the road that sells a strange mix of new items, (womens & men's boots/wellintons/household cleaning stuff/cat & dog food/human food/books for eg) and they had some 100% pure cashmere duvet/quilt type things for a single bed. The owner saw me looking at them and he came over and told me they originally sold for £120 but he was selling them for £10. Sadly I have no need for a single but I'm now racking my brain as to if/how I could use one :). Sew 2 together? Sofa throw? Make a jacket???

Yesterday I bought a BN Joules mug, very large and ideal for a proper cup of Yorkshire tea, has bikes on it and I am a keen cyclist so for £1 it was coming home with me. To balance that out I am putting 3 mugs in the shed to use for something - not decided what yet. I also bought a Christmas decoration, it is a conical tree made from beads on a sort of wire and hessian frame, very glittery and red and it will catch the light very nicely - £3.

I'd have had that mug too as I am a cyclist and like a decent sized mug. Good find!

Went into the Cancer Shop on Monday where I don't usually find much of interest. However I found a fake fur coat in black with dark brown cuffs and collar for £3. I nabbed it. It is by Borgazia styled by Fairmoor. It's in fantastic condition. Just slightly tight across my shoulders but otherwise fits perfectly. My daughter loves it too so I might have to keep my eye on it!

    Bewdley today.

I needed a replacement for my gloves. I needed man sized gloves (for my man sized hands), sensible colour and pattern and I like them with the mitten bit that turns back.

There they were, in the one that used to be Phipps and Pritchard! Dark red with white pattern, fold back mitten, new with the tags (£6 from H and M). £2 for me today.

Then in St Richards Hospice shop, a box set of DVDs of a comedian my older son really likes. £2.

Sue Ryder Hospice Shop.....a Dorothy Perkins dress, BNWT and originally priced at £35 - chazza price £3. Purple straight skirt and the sleeveless top has an overlay of black lace which reaches about 3" below the waist and there is a grosgrain ribbon belt. The back has a large triangular cut out thingy going on which I'm not keen on but I plan to wear it with a short, black velvet, fitted jacket to cover the arms and the triangle :D
  • I bought a cute scarf for £2 and an Easiyo yoghurt maker for £3 yesterday. :)

The £1 shop came up trumps today I got a beach cover up by a designer I’d never heard of Amal Azhari. She works in the Lebanon and although it’s not my usual thing the quality attracted me. On looking her up her clothes sell for hundreds of pounds so I’m delighted. I also got 2 Xmas mugs marked “tams made in England” with a very vintage feel. These will be filled with chocolate treats or fudge and gifted. To make up the 3 items for £1 I also bought a framed cross-stitch of daffodils this will go on eBay. I also got a pair of black high waisted wide leg trousers £1 and a new slimma 2 way pure wool tartan skirt/ kilt. Exactly the same one is currently on eBay for £30

Have made a few purchases this weekend.

George leather chelsea boots in a lovely tan colour with a sort of worn finish, these look like they may have been worn once. I found a pair of new ones on ebay with the £30 price tag on - I paid £5.

F&F hoodie for DS, heathered grey with a borg lining, really thick and warm so he can wear it as a jacket, this was a bit pricey at £5 but again no real evidence of wear.

A pair of G Star Raw black ankle boots for me, really nice quality £3.99.

A Mountain Warehouse lightweight puffa jacket for DS, navy blue with a bright orange lining, draw cord at the waist, zip pockets and a hood, this is for school as they scrunch up small so it will fit in his locker, it is 90% down and 10% feather which as a vegan I have a problem with new but buying something already in the waste stream is still better even if it does have this in it (I'm the same with leather and wool which I know is a contradiction but I won't buy them new). Paid £7 for this which was the maximum I wanted to pay really but it should fit him for a good long while and I have been looking for ages for one.

A Crew Clothing full zip hoodie for DH in their amazingly soft cotton, bright red with a badge and the crossed oars to the front, perfect condition £5.99.

A Dunnes Stores wool and alpaca blend cardigan in an oatmeal colour with a darker brown pattern around the edges, it is one of those cardigans that curves away from mid chest - 99p.

A really lovely pair of Caterpillar chelsea boots for DH, aged nubuck leather, zip to inside, very sturdy £19.99.

    Lastly 6 dvd's for £1.

We went to Harrogate and Otley today. Otley were having their Victorian Christmas market and it was crazy busy.
