In January I found a pair of gold leather gloves by sermoneta - I found the style online and they retail at 67 euros. I absolutely love gold, and I love gloves, and these fit perfectly. they were £2 from the Helen Rollason charity shop in the posh town near me. They were a small, which I think is why they hadn't been snapped up already.
    Welcome to the thread, Magpie100.

These would have been mine if I'd seen them first. ;)
    They sound wonderful.

C'mon guys - not many bargains being reported.
    I need to be entertained.

Just a small purchase for me today.

I got a milk jug and sugar basin in this design for £2.50 the two. It’s not going to win any awards for bargain of the week but it’s colour made me smile

Yesterday I got DH a Jack Wills cardigan. It's 95% lambswool and 5% cashmere, v neck in a sort of mossy/mustard colour, looks barely worn, £5.25 paid.

I'm not buying much at the moment, I have way too much stuff and I find I make too many mistakes on fit and end up re-donating which is wasting money in the long run.

    But benefiting the charity. ;)

In my Air Ambulance where everything is £1.00, I've stopped trying stuff on (even though they have a changing room) as I just consider it a £1.00 donation to a very worthy charity if it doesn't fit. The AA landed in the square at the side of our house the other day, not sure why as I've not been out to chat to anyone to find out.

But I agree, it can be a costly purchase if you pay upwards of £3.00 and it's not suitable.

Some charity shops allow returns, some give credit notes.

I was in AA a couple of weeks ago and one lady wanted to return 4 items (£1.00 each) but was told they don't do refunds (or returns at all).
She was not happy and went up the chain of command to the manager who still reiterated the policy of 'it's a clearance shop so no returns'.
She complained that there was nothing in the shop that said 'no refunds'.

    She was not happy.
She had a massive bin bag of items she intended to donate and took them elsewhere in a huff.
Interested to hear from anyone who works/has worked in a charity shop what would you have done?
Could you have tweaked the system?
    Would you have?

Hope you all don't mind me wittering on about non-bargains as I currently can't get out. :)

Another great Jack Wills bargain, dolly84. :T

Hi all - I love charity shopping and am LOVING this thread! :)

I have picked up a few bargains this year, but two things that spring to mind is a beige coloured throw on poncho/jumper type thing, I wear it to work everyday now. It's originally from Oasis but cost me 10p on the bargain rail!

I also picked up some books to read yesterday, I had to make the most of the 5 for £1 offer :D

That’s her own fault Pollycat if as you say there’s a changing room.

Not sure why you’re housebound but get well soon! :)

I did think that myself, Bogof_Babe and did have to bite my tongue quite hard to stop myself putting my pennyworth in.
She said she wasn't aware there was a changing room.

Just surgery on my foot - a bit more info in my post #2420.
Getting better but don't think I'll be charity shopping for another month at least. :(

Thanks for the good wishes. :)

I volunteer on and off for charity shops.

I find shop managers can be very intransigent.
I don't particularly enjoy working on the till but when I have in the past I'm very customer friendly, I'd probably have said, "can you find something else and we'll do swop.
I'm so sorry but it's the company rules," I wouldn't have told the manager, I'd have just done it.
