    Hi
    Thanks for asking.
4 weeks on Monday since the op.

Can put some weight on but still on zimmer (far better than crutches).
Scar healing OK after a few concerns.

Have a walker upstairs and downstairs (extra one bought from a charity shop for £5.00 :rotfl:) so I'm more independent now, don't need OH to transfer it from one floor to the other so I'm not tied to the same place if he goes out.

Lost all my muscle tone in my leg.

    Bored sometimes.
    Missing charity shopping.
Going through Series 1 to 5 of Line of Duty.

Have only been out to appointments, was told not to go t'pub :( - but I was expecting to be house-bound for 6 weeks.

Usually go out 5 times a week so missing the company.

But...I have hit on a way to entertain myself.
I worked out how much I'd usually spend on going out and I have a spreadsheet and am buying bits and pieces that interest me from eBay with my 'not going out' budget.
So far. I've bought some silk scarves (Accessorize), 2 pair of Doc Mart Chelsea boots and a Mexican Taxco silver choker/collar.

And the good news is that I have 2 perfectly straight toes. :j

Very glad to hear all is not totally spent on MSE & wishing the medics would jump in a lake (along with others, perhaps?!)

Awed that you are buying footwear.

Hurrah for two perfectly straight toes, and here's hoping the other three are coping with the doubtless wholly unfounded assertions about their inclinations.

Glad you’re on the mend Polly!

An edge-of-town shopping street a few miles from me is essentially all chazzers (there are 10!) but I haven’t been there for yonks because parking is nigh impossible. I visited early today and whilst mostly disappointed, I did treat myself to a brand new still sealed in box Morphy Richards Total Control soup maker for £15. They’re on Amazon for £109 (though currently reduced to £80) so I’m pleased with my bargain.

For ages I have scoffed at the idea of a soup maker - I have saucepans and a blender after all - but a couple of friends/work colleagues have been singing their praises enough to make me slightly curious.

I have just made my first batch of soup, and I have to say I am really quite impressed. I made a big pan (it says 4 portions, but it’s more like 8!) of leek, green chilli, garlic and potato soup in precisely 19 minutes without having to stay anywhere near it, and it was velvety smooth with no strands of leek visible at all - smoother than my stick blender could ever make it. And the best bit is that after emptying the soup out, you just add some hot water and a squirt of washing up liquid and it has a rapid clean function which makes cleaning it s(o)uper easy.

    Thanks, CJ.

    Soup sounds yummy.
Should I pm you my address?
Just so you know, I do like a bit of crusty bread with my leek and potato soup. ;)

    Great bargain. :T
I think I'd have been hard-pressed to resist it if I'd seen it.

Sloped off for a break from ebaying & lo, he's done it again,.
Two pairs of (Karriomor & Berghaus) shorts which fit & delight my mountain biker son, £2 each.
Rohan trousers for youngest, technical chinos (£75 usually) now on him for £3 of my pounds.
Eldest has been gently reminded we sourced him 4 pairs of corduroys in the last fortnight.
I've got an Elizabeth George book but realised I am at least 4 volumes out of sequence so need to either leap & hope or get another 4 books & get reading!

Monsoon cardigan BNWT that says £39. Mine for £3. Walis blouse looks new but no tags £3. Laura Ashley shower cream still sealed £1.
All that clutter used to be money

We went out for lunch with the youngest child today and as she had a payment of lunch and hot chocolate she graciously allowed DH and I to look in the cs. Bargains were a bit in short supply until we went in the somewhat odd hospice shop. They were having a sale of items for £1 so £2 was spent on a brand new Gerry Weber ladies summer coat (just seen how much they are to buy eek) and a mans brax shirt. In another cs I got a nice h and m dress for work and a pair of new leggings for £1. I’ve just had a throw away of some old leggings so very pleased by my purchase.

Why is it our beloved children need to be persuaded into permitting us to seek out good things for them?
Says she, still irked at the cod & chips bribe required last time....

[STRIKE]£46.99[/STRIKE] (although that's an expensive price!) £3 Salvation Army furniture shop. The wheeled bit was on backwards so it wobbled badly, which may be why it was priced so low.

Handy for the lounge as it will protrude over the arms of the corner suite.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
