I've been donating rather than buying lately, but today at the new-ish local hospice shop, a Debenhams short fitted jacket in a deep tan colour, I think unworn as the pockets were still stitched up. It will dress up or be worn casual so I'll get a lot of wear out of it - £4.0

I took a bin bag of things to the Cs yesterday but then couldn’t resist a couple of bargains today!
My spare room on a budget (currently curtains, wallpaper , quilt cover and 1 accent cushion coming in at £11) had the addition of a 99p accent cushion in the same Laura Ashley fabric as the curtains. The room is being done in Laura Ashley camomile which is a lovely yellow colour. The purchases have all been cs or gumtree and as we are reusing dd’s ikea day bed and keeping the wardrobes I now just need bargain carpet and paint.
My other bargain was a want rather than need as it was an unworn cashmere cardigan from m and a in a baby pink colour for £30 -
Had a last minute wander today around my local charity shops before my holiday. Found a River Island long shirt/short dress sort of thingy in Neapolitan colours of pink, cream and brown that will be useful as a beach cover up, £3 in the hospice shop. In the community shop I spotted 2 b/n packs of those mosquito repelling wristband thingies priced at 50p for the 2 packs. I've tried everything under the sun to scare off the bloomin' mozzies and nothing ever works so my expectations of these having any effect are not high! Might as well just have an arrow tattooed on my forehead pointing down saying "Mozzie feeding station"!!!
Pollycat hasn't posted in a while...if your teeny tiny feets are in post operation recovery mode pollycat I hope you are progressing well0 -
Managed to resist a mantilla comb as although the cause was worthy, it was plastic & made me look even shorter and thinner haired than I am.
Got a set of poker dice as they are octahedral & I suspect easier to play with than cards. Slightly limited use as opposed to a full deck but the playing cards were a pound a pack whereas the dice were 50 pence.0 -
Today I bought an as-new Portmeirion Botanicals oblong melamine tray for 60p, a Hummingbird Bakery cook book for 30p, two Disney princess dresses for the dressing up box in my daughter’s class (she teaches year one) for £1 each, and a single portable induction hob for £2.0

I was not going anywhere near cs’s today but good weather and a trip to the cost necessitated a little bimble. In the hospice shop I got a navy and ochre patterned short sleeved Laura Ashley floaty top and a pair of new with tags TU trousers in ochre. I’m not sure this outfit is quite me but I’m off on leave next week and I’m planning to make over myself. Hair done Monday, facial Tuesday, afternoon tea Wednesday and I thought a bit of a change in style might go with that vibe and for £4.50 the top and £3 the bottoms it’s not going to break the bank. (Entire makeover week actually very low cost as niece doing my hair, local college for the facial and afternoon tea was a gift for my birthday)
I digress. I also got a boden wrap top in a jersey fabric for £4.50 and a joules intarsia (think that’s what they call their patterned jumpers) for £4. Finally we got a very pretty glass vase for £1. The plan is to get some nice flowers next week and create a vase arrangement for my mother in law, I think it will be nicer than just giving her a bunch of flowers.0 -

A change is as good as a rest as they say. Well done on getting a Joules jumper for £4, those things go for a lot of money on ebay.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Yesterday I got a Per Una gilet, navy blue with a red lining, it is thicker than my Joules one which is what I wanted. A New Look sleeveless chiffon blouse with a collar and buttons in navy with red and grey check design, I wear these under jumpers buttoned right to the top, originally they were asking £4 for it:eek:, but it was on the £1 rail yesterday. A handmade small turquoise bowl with a sycamore leaf design inside, very pretty and just 50p.
DD was with me and she said she needed a new hoodie and wanted a Jack Wills one (her original one had been grown out of), she walked away from the sale rail in one shop as I was looking through it and I found the exact hoodie she wanted in grey, size 12 so nice and roomy and only £1, originally priced at £5.50 which DD said she would have paid as these things are expensive but we do both appreciate the long arms they do.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hi Miro - I'm around but obviously not getting chance of any bargains.
But keep them coming to entertain me.
I'd underestimated the non-mobility aspect massively.
Today is the first time I've sat down at my PC.
Some concerns about haematoma at my 1st dressing appointment so I've got an extra appointment before I have my cast off on Friday.
Not liking the self-administered injections in my tummy.
Hope you have a fab holiday.
Dolly84 - my niece was a Jack Wills fan and £5.50 for a hoodie would have been a steal anyway (start at £50) but £1. WOW! :T0 -
Pollycat, is now the time to invest in a tablet computer that really can sit on your lap on a cushion, or be propped on things as it suits you? I'm startled at how cheap some of the overgrown phones are becoming. [For a given value of cheapo, naturally.] Plus you can mod a case so you can sling a handbag strap in it, or even pick a sufficiently roomy bag to wear & carry it around with you?
I oh so agree self administered injections are not fun, but they beat the stuffing out of waiting for someone to come in, or having OH trained up.
Big fan of relative autonomy here! Plus you never know, being able to operate the kit intelligently may come in useful in other circs.
(If you know anyone who went/is going through IVF, ask them for tips? They go through serious numbers of shots.)
I saw a lovely display of bags & wished you were there to advise - looks like mum is on for another bunch of flowers & a well intentioned phone call, Again.
All the very best for Friday!0
