Had a quality stroll along the main drag of Cleveleys, visiting Every Single Charity Shop (sons forewarned &, bribed with an imminent fish supper, cooperative). Managed to walk away from a few pieces but fell like a stone for a Denby Cotswold teapot & jug - the jug easily a pint and the teapot a lovely round & sort of deliberately squashed (as opposed to the coffee pot which is more pear shape pulled upwards says she making a stupendous hash of describing Denby shapes.) Acquiz committee thinking about fish & chips so I paid rather more than I wanted but oh those shapes...

Everyone brought back books & one a couple of severely distopian SF
DVDs about which he's delighted. (I find CNN does me at the minute but the costumes aren't as wild.)

I tried to coax a son into the joys of hotel freebie bubble-bath & he wasn't interested. It may be a Y chromosome thing, or just not wanting to admit to interest in front of siblings.
  • I have donated 2 x bags again today, after having re gone through my wardrobe.
I have bought 4 items over the last couple of weeks.

    1) Made in UK, 100% lambswool navy Marks cardigan. Although 'vintage' it is like new and a classic style. £3.50
    2) Navy 100% cotton, three quarter sleeved navy Per Una button down top / shirt with boho stitching at the top of the neckline £3
    3) Accessorise small long strapped tan saddle bag, as new £4.75 - Only cheap leather look material for this one but loved the style - and am willing to get the odd item in non natural material if second hand.
    4) Vintage shell beaded necklaces (the ones with a big shell pendant) 3 x at 20p each - for my daughter to craft with

I was really pleased with 1 and 2 as am transitioning my wardrobe very slowly (as things wear out) to more natural materials, and better ethics.

I wish someone would commission a reality TV series following the adventures of the DFV family ;)

Got a Reebok sweatshirt for DD today in airforce blue, it's a mans small so is nicely oversized on her, I got a Dorothy Perkins navy blue sleeveless swing top, crepe type fabric with a slit to waist height at the back and a beautifully beaded neckline to the front, £3 paid for the two.

    The horror...
Plus the bashful in front of cameras bit - you'd need an Attenborough grade camera crew. We could script an uproarious show for more telegenic faces but the reality version would be very hard to broadcast possibly other than as social commentary.

Besides as one son points out no car chases, no explosions & no nekkid women - who'd bother? (His viewing habits leave something to be desired but he can sew an AngloSaxon seam admirably. His opinions whilst hopefully/doubtless understood by others under 20 might appall those of more mature years.)

Whereas you could splice Marty Portas into carpaccio with your formidable talents! Plus the restoration side (you find lovely silk. we restore rusty tools) - there really isn't any question who the commissioning editors would chase after with a contract!

A trip to the post office to send off an eBay parcel led to a bit of a spending spree in the local cs. I feel quite bad with my total spend of over £21 but I think I did well. I got a pair of lovely interlined curtains ( I do have a thing about nice curtains) for £6.99 which I virtually snatched just before a casual browser got to them. I got a white stuff casual linen and cotton mix jumper for £6.99 it’s in a lovely spring shade of blue if that makes sense and will be worn lots. I got a new with tag pair of navy leggings for £3.49 don’t recognise the make but they look good quality ones and a moringa body shop gift set which contains shower gel a poofer doofer thing, soap, body scrub and body creme. I’m guessing it would have cost over £20 as the scrub and creme are currently £6 each let alone the shower gel. This will be gifted to a friend for her birthday next month as it’s her favourite

Photo cube 99p (my parents have several of these & enjoy rotating the cubes & images) son groaned - he knows I will now want photos!

Scout wolf head woggle poss 1950s free as shopkeeper knows us well & is a retired scout leader himself! Along with laminated promise & laws card - very touched!

Two detailed Celtic knotwork prints, possibly from the Book of Kells gloriously framed for £2 each.

Long embroidered panel of animals (birds horses elephants!) - sold as a wall hanging could be made into a dress (that long! But narrow.) or butchered into an amazing satchel. Also £2 - the spare room is going to take on character!
