On Wednesday we finally made it to headingley. We were nearby due to an MRi . The shops were lovely but I didn't succumb until we visited oxfam. There dh spotted some Indian tree crockery by maddocks. It's a really popular pattern that lots of companies have used but we have pulled together virtually an entire dinner service from cs visits. Anyway there were 2 tureens a gravy boat and stand and a small platter. Ideal as although we've got some we use it as our Xmas dinner service and we are always short of tureens. Anyway £9.50 for the lot and we were delightef

Pleased to hear you made it to Headingley eventually and found some nice buys too :)

Spent the last two days trawling round the charity shops of Thirsk, Northallerton, Ripon and Harrogate which has been a nice change from my usual haunts. Bit  at the prices though....much higher than my usual stomping ground! Only buy was a black, Betty Barclay, viscose & angora jumper with a sequinned cowl neck and cuffs. Price was £10 in one of the Harrogate chazzas which is far more than I would usually pay but I have just the right skirt to go with it and just the right occasion to wear both (NY Eve), so was happy to splurge, (again!).
  • Boyfriend was very pleased with his Christmas present from my mom - 0.99p Star Wars mug from My Mom’s local charity shop

Found a Denby teapot, what a shock. Also a nifty over the shoulder pack of military spec, a fiver new to us & not much change from £30 on the website. Husband got a couple of Daily Mail repro Princess Mary tin for a pound a pop, still wrapped & has cheerfully pressed one into it’s proper use as a tobacco tin...

I think I’ve been having cs withdrawal over Xmas but we visited a few today. A rather surprising buy was a mannequin dressed in a tutu it’s about 5ft tall and cost £10 and will look great in did bedroom
  • I took a pile of donations in today :)

Bought a pair of marks jeggings for my daughter for £3.99

and a beautiful vintage 100% silk square scarf for my quest to reduce waste in 2019 (I want to try the Japanese art of gift wrapping in fabric)

  • bobsa1 congrats on your china find. Just had a look at the pattern as one I wasn't familiar with :). You must be delighted :) .

Miro, the splurge is a bargain whilst it is the perfect item for new year. I like Betty Barclay one of my favourite tops is from her range.

That's a lovely idea and something I have always intended to do myself. Trouble is when it comes to it I can never bear to part with a scarf even if I've bought it for that very reason :o

I'd never heard of 'Betty Barclay' before but I see that John Lewis sell that make so they must be reasonably good :)
  • I use teatowels as bottle bags. So whenever I take you a bottle of wine, you get a new tea towel. My sons do it as well.
  • Wondercollie - this is a lovely idea - two gifts in one, and no waste :)

Miro, I found my Betty Barclay top lasted really well, I think it is good quality
