Open up the tea towel. Fold into thirds, long ways, so you have a long strip of fabric. Fold this in half. It leaves a pouch like opening to slip the wine bottle. Tie the neck with ribbon if feeling fancy.0

Well, I did the rounds of 14 charity shops on Saturday and didn't buy one thing.
I also mooched round Debenhams, M&S, Next and Clarks and bought nothing there either.
Ebay sales still going good though. :j
Have more stuff to photograph and list.
Great gift wrapping ideas from Dragonlily and wondercollie. :T
My friend gives me birthday and Christmas presents in a reusable bag - sometimes the Seasalt jute ones.0 -
Have been having a last look around the last few days before I start my 'No Buy January'.
DD got a pair of BN brown ankle boots, nice height heel, v shaped gusset detail to outside, brand is something like in to spring or call it spring, these were £6 but certain things were 1/2 price so £3 paid which is what they should have been really but this particular local hospice shop is very overpriced. DD also got a cropped Topshop slub top in navy blue for £2.
DH got a Regatta fleece top, microfleece I think it's called, the very thin type, zip neckline, grey and looks unworn, very nice for walking in spring time - £2.20, he also got a Next dressing gown, thick grey fleece inside with a grey, red and white checked brushed cotton outer, very cosy and I am currently wearing it - £5.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

My last trip to a chazzer involved no purchases - I'd returned for a book I'd ummed and aahed about on Christmas Eve (I had a suspicion that I already had it, but this was in fact the sequel) but by Saturday it had gone. I am now confident that I will find it elsewhere for less than the £1 it was on sale for

Let me guess, using the rather nice fabric totes from Booths is not quite in the keeping of Furoshiki (and I covet a Seasalt tote giving relative!) but looking just at the Wikipedia photos, blimey, wine bottles can look Amazing...
Also, it's fallen out of use somewhat due to the Evil Plastic Bag and therefore it is only environmentally right & proper that we pay homage to our lord & saviour David Attenborough by bringing it right back into use...
Just how do you fold/knot a should bag variant? (I Scout - I should Know, but will happily divert the attention of several enquiringly young minds if properly steered!)1 -
My last charity shop buy of 2018 was a Weird Fish navy blue, pull over the head fleece, doesn’t look to have had any wear.
Well OH found it for me in Barnardos where everything is £1 99p. It’s washed and ready to wear, will look good with jeans and a nice bright scarf.
But I’m still grieving for and moaning about the lovely very good quality Christmas jumper I didn’t buy a few weeks ago in the same shop, said to myself I didn’t need a Christmas jumper, changed my mind fifteen mins later, went back to the shop but in the meantime someone with far more brains than me had snapped it up!0 -
Following this thread talking about the Japanese fabric wrapping I decided to have a go with a gift for a friend who has a birthday next Saturday. I too am a January birthday and they are invariably rubbish so I hope she likes the thought that’s gone into her wrapping. Anyway I digress, I bought a lovely long wide rectangular scarf from the cs. It was a bought in new one , they had a number, reduced to £1.50 which I thought is a similar price to a gift bag. I’ve got her a Superdrug spring perfume set and the scarf has lovely flowers all over it. My wrapping is far from perfect but it does look pretty.
My other purchases were a ladybird book of mindfullness to go towards another friends birthday for 99p and two rolls of Emma bridgewater Xmas wrap for £1 per roll0 -
My last buy of 2018 and my last buy (clothing wise) for a while was a Next long sleeved t shirt, white with thin red stripes, v neck with blue embroidered french phrase - £2.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

She'll love the Furoshiki idea.
I did see a lovely small silk bag with embroidery and beads on it in a charity shop on Saturday.
It was BNWT (think it said 'Claridges') and I toyed with the idea of buying it to put her birthday present in but then decided against it.
It was £5.00 so a bit pricey.
I'll be on the lookout for silk scarves from now on.0 -
Bought a shoulder bag today for £3. Didn't like the badge with a man's name on it but thought I would put up with it for £3. Got home and thought, why is there a badge on it at all?.. Looked up the logo, it is Michael Kors
. Well worth £3 I think!
Not charity shop, but about a year ago my husband got a large wicker hamper from out of a skip, beautifully made and very strong. He thought it was a shame to throw it away. Got it home, there was a leather label tied to it saying 'Harrods of Knightsbridge'. We now use it as a coffee table and as storage for our throws(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
