I'm amazed. He's done it again - puttered off coming back clutching a pair of boots that fit him for a tenner, when the RRP is £140.
Wearing a rucksack stuffed with Lindsey Davis novels - seems two taxpayers cleared their shelves & he now has nearly all her Falco series at 50 pence a volume. A happy man!

Me, I picked up the bowls, cups, milk jug & sugar bowl that share the Sherwood pattern with the teapot I have stashed, just 16 pieces with change from a fiver.

ETA The cs shops are blandly preparing - one had a window *full* of B&H stuff, ideal for the chap who wants to think he'll surprise herself, or be prepared. Or to reassure recipients that there is a welcome place to recycle them?!

I bought a very clean hardback copy of Shopaholic & Baby. I have it in paperback already but am on the look out for the hardback set. 75p
Lightweight dross, but I like to settle down on a wet, winter day and indulge. :D

A M&S Blue Harbour 'luxury' short-sleeved shirt in blue, turquoise & lilac checks. As new. £3.00
    Both from local Hospice shop.

A White Stuff short sleeved tunic in grey, peach, purples.
    £1.00 Air Ambulance

I saw a piece of Denby the other day - instantly recognisable as Denby - YKWIM ;) - but I didn't know the pattern. Stamped underneath as Windflower. Very pretty. 1980's I think.

  • Yes indeed!
Denby Pottery Windflower is an attractive design issued in c.1984, featuring a stylised cream and orange flower with brown leaves on an egg shell white background. The rims and exterior of pieces are a caramel/oatmeal brown.
Startlingly, I don't think have a reference piece, or perhaps I do but never identified it. Thankyou fur extending my Denby education!

Well, if you don't have a reference piece, let me know and I'll hot-foot it back to the charity shop and remedy that. ;)
  • I don't know much, well anything about Denby pottery, but spotted tsp lovely mugs in my local Sue Ryder chazzer, turned them over and they were 4.00 each and had Denby stamped on the bottom. I quickly put them down as I thought it was very dear, but they were lovely.

A recent purchase is a Bon marche top for 2.00 which I had admired in the shop at the beginning of the summer. It's in perfect condition and doesn't look worn. It was next to a primark t shirt for the same price. THe new t shirt in primark would only be 2.00 or 2.50 max where as the top in BM was about 10.00 new, funny how they price things up sometimes isn't it?

Off into town later to meet a friend, my fave air ambulance shop doesn't open on a Sunday here, it does in the nearby town so depending what time were done I might go over there for a mosey.

    Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

I picked up a few bits yesterday.

Timberland Earthkeepers Organic cotton short sleeved shirt for DH in two shades of blue and red checks, lovely quality - £2.

Harry Potter nightshirt for DD, really nice details, only Primark but only £1.

Set of base layers for me for the bike, full length bottoms and long sleeved top in black - £1 each.

Next red quilted jacket with plaid lining, waxed finish, cord collar and shoulders - £3.

Long Tall Sally knitted jumper dress in black with white stripes - £3 (LTS is a rare find), will look good for work or with docs for the weekend.

Berghaus long sleeved top in pale blue and black, zip to top - £1.50.

I saw a few other things I liked but they were all around the £5 mark and just not special enough to warrant that.

  • I have now moved to Norwich, so I have a new range of charity shops to look through, and I was horrified at the prices. £45 for a Jack Wills cape?! I haven't been in the charity shops since I left home, and honestly, with the horrendous change to my local Banardo's, I think I am now retiring from charity shopping. I will continue to read about your bargains, and hope that things change in the future.

Anyway, I bought a Jil Sander jumper in black for £3.99 in Sue Ryder before I left. The care label is removed, but it feels like cashmere, so I guess there's that?

Found a lovely bag this afty in the Mind shop. Gorgeous tan leather in a cross body/messenger stylee, (my fave!). Make is 'Red Point' which I have never heard of but Google indicates they are known for their quality leather goods. It is as new apart from a small pen mark on the back, (the usual careful wipe with hairspray on a cotton bud soon took care of that). Got loads of secure zipped pockets and is big enough for all the usual tat I seem to carry around but not outrageously so. Was priced at £7.50 so I had to give the purchase some serious thought :p but went for it as I knew I would regret it if I didn't.

Heard some sad news re a few of my usual chazza shop haunts recently. Three in Otley are closing down shortly, (Donkey Sanctuary, The Age UK £1 shop and the strange 20p shop). Also, one closer to home in Headingley has recently closed too. Appears to be due to increasing rents in every case from what I have heard. :(

That’s a shame Miro, some of your best ones for real bargains :( .

If clothes could talk... “you won’t believe this, but five days ago I was hanging all forlorn and neglected on the £1 rail in the scruffiest charity shop in town, and now I’m being worn in the smart attire dining room on the Queen Elizabeth! :j :T “

Black trousers that came up trumps when I found out two days before departure that I didn’t seem to own any except jeans.

All my tops and dresses were ahem good value too ;) . Had a great time but it’s a relief to get back to not having to get dressed up for dinner!
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
