I dropped off a bag of books at my local SCOPE charity shop today, and whilst I was there picked up a book for £1, it's a paperback edition of a diary of a local shopkeeper during World War II - https://www.amazon.co.uk/View-Corner-Shop-Yorkshire-Assistant/dp/1471154017/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537900069&sr=8-1&keywords=kathleen+hey
I also went to a local hospice shop and picked up a hardback copy of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine for 75p.
I've got a few bags of books to get rid of, so I'm taking some more down on Friday.0 -

Himself spotted a Langley plate for £2 - it's a Denby/Langley merger pattern, Sherwood, in perfect nick & full dinnerplate size & some discontinued sites have them selling at £21.50. He wanted reassurance the acquisition committee would OK the £2 on a single piece - I let him, just this once!
After all, it's less than a cup of coffee...0 -

If you like David Baldacchi, try Nelson DeMille (if you haven't already).
He has a number of recurring characters in his books.
I like the John Corey character ones, especially Nightfall loosely based on real events.
He wrote The General's Daughter, filmed with John Travolta & Madeleine Stowe.
Was tempted yesterday with a lovely (maybe) silk scarf with pansies on.
But it was a square rather than long so I left it.
Have seen lots of Denby Manor Green stuff lately.
No Bayliss & Harding though, but TJ Hughes were filling their shelves with Christmas gift boxes.0 -
