There's also an Air Ambulance shop where everything is £1.00
    Welcome to the thread. :hello:
I can see we're going to have a battle in the 'star buy of the week' competition as we also have an Air Ambulance clearance shop where everything is £1. :D

Yesterday's haul - all from Air Ambulance was:
a lovely 'Original Resorts by Blue Harbour' (M&S) pink/blue/yellow checked short sleeve shirt for OH. £1.00. Perfect for holidays as it has a chest pocket with a button on - OH insists on this for holidays for his cash.

a Debenhams Petite white shirt with black and silver thin stripes with a chevron front £1.00. Great with a pinafore dress.

    3 scarves:
1 is pink background with flying flamingos and other tropical birds & flowers in a jade colour. My Mum will love this. It's by Hotter - I didn't know they did scarves.
1 is purple and grey different thickness stripes. Very soft.
1 is red/green/blue/turquoise blocks and tassels.

When I went to pay, he said £2.00 and I was confused so he said '2 for £1.00' so I went back to look for another and came up with a MINT one - 20% silk/80% cotton - tie dye shading from orange to brown to lime. Probably around the £40 mark.

So all the above cost me £4.00. :j

Dd number 2 needed a lift to an appointment today and I took her on the understanding she had to look round some Cs with me 😊
The hospice shop were doing 50% off so I snaffled a ted baker cardigan for the princely sum of £1.50 similar online are £99 odd. Very happy. Yesterday I was musing on needing a black shoe boot type thing with a reasonable height heel due to foot problems but thought I would struggle to find some even in a proper shop. Well the Cs gods delivered today in the form of an unworn pair from Clarks in black leather at £6.99 dd was a little astounded at my joy and need for her to admire them !.

On saturday we are driving all 3 daughters to legoland but as the youngest is 14 dh and I are not required to stay so we are going to nettlebed sales hurrah!! Can anyone suggest anywhere else in the locality of either nettlebed or Windsor and any suggestions of nice lunch spots would also be appreciated

Had a lovely totter around the charity shops in Kendal this morning....loads of em, many independents and all close together....bliss! Got me 4 teacups and saucers in the Denby, Whisper pattern for the outrageous price of £2.75:D I have a full set of Whisper....purchased yonks ago when I worked in retail and got 40% off everything. One saucer came to grief about 20 years ago and has a small chip in the rim. One china matching service was asking 15 squids to replace the one saucer:eek: I had an inkling that if I waited long enough one would appear in a chazza. It did today with a few bonuses as well. Just shows...a little patience pays orft!! :D

    Ooops me again :o

Back to my normal, local chazza hunting grounds today. In the community chazza I found an, as new, peacock blue, M & S t-shirt with a scoopy neck and bracelet length sleeves in that slightly longer length that they do....on the sale rail so £1. Then in the big Sue Ryder place I spotted a real leather jacket by Hide Park Leather. British racing green shade and in pristine, if not new condition. When I saw the price (£15) I thought it must be fake leather but not so. Feels like really good quality leather, very soft and has that lovely leather smell. The style is short/fitted with a front zip, some intricate seaming and small splits at the sides and on the sleeve wrists...tis a bit like a smarter version of a biker jacket. Can't find the exact same one online but similar ones in this make are around £175!
  • Himself spotted an airbrush in a cs, and on closer examination it's a no longer made type as even the art community couldn't afford them after the company got bought out. A "de vilibis" of some sort, and he's located & bought spares to keep it running for years. Also a new hose from the compressor to the brush but got the wrong fitting at one end - happily the company could not have been sweeter. Do not please ask me how, but you can control the amount of air and the amount of paint and thus can fill in grid squares if so minded. With an airbrush.
He's very happy. I'm baffled but delighted that his Christmas has (a) come early & (b) come in at under £50.

Oooh bobsa1, I am planning a trip to Nettlebed tomorrow too, weather permitting. The past few times I have been it has been absolutely mobbed so come prepared to push, shove, barge and stamp on toes. It can get crazy!

With regard to lunch, I assume you will prefer something on the Nettlebed to Windsor route and I never travel that way. I suppose somewhere in Henley would make sense but will likely be pricey.

There is a little cafe in the centre of Nettlebed called the Field Kitchen, located in a former church right in the centre of the village. I have never been but keep meaning to stop and have a look as it seems quite nice. It will probably be v busy on a Sales day though.

My only other suggestion is a lovely cafe/bistro called The Waterfront Cafe in the village of Benson. It is right on the river, and quite lovely. It is less than a ten minute drive from Nettlebed - come out of the Sale grounds, turn left, left again at the mini roundabout and stay on that road right through Nettlebed and off towards Wallingford. When you come to the big roundabout at Crowmarsh Gifford on the edge of Wallingford, turn right (probably signposted to Benson from here). The cafe is about three miles or so down this road, on the left hand side.

I am soo annoyed with myself because I lost my charity shop mojo.

Then I returned and found brand new Levis £15, 3/4 length shirt viscose and Speedo costume £6. For various reasons I did not buy said items and now wishing I had done. There are just some things in your mind that stick out when you don't buy them and wishing you had.

Does anybody else have this? needless to say I have my mojo back and buying again.
  • Don’t panic, it’s not a cat litter scoop, they are perforated for obvious reasons

I can vouch for the Waterfront Cafe, it’s really nice. I went there with my daughter as she had her dog and it is dog friendly. Nice food if a little pricey and delicious looking cakes

I cannot imagine losing my chazzer mojo (shudders at the thought). I firmly believe that if you snooze you lose - there have been times when I missed a bargain by walking away to go and think about it, and of course someone else will have snapped it up in the meantime. Now if I am dithering about an item, it is probably because I do not really need it, so it is not a great loss if I miss out on it.

I am back from a cold and soggy Nettlebed, but on the positive side the rain kept many people away so it was much quieter than it has been for ages.

Our four slice toaster has been on the blink for a while and I was about to bite the bullet and buy a new replacement, but Nettlebed came up trumps this morning : the very model (and gleaming red colour) we wanted, a lovely retro looking four slice Dualit in fabulous as-new condition for a fiver. Very happy with that.

Also bought a massive (think refectory table size) red tablecloth, perfect for my craft fair stalls at Christmas, for £2.

A king size really thick fleece throw in a red, blue and white Scandi style Christmas design for £2. This is currently being given a quick machine wash.

Two brand new, still sealed makeup sets for £3 the pair. One is the Tanya Burr sparkle day palette (I have never heard of this brand, but assume it is not expensive, it looks like the sort of thing sold in Superdrug), and a large Clinique eye shadow palette. The colours in both sets are just perfect for me.

A brand new soil testing kit (to check the soil pH level - I have been meaning to get one for ages) for 50p.

A blood pressure monitor with auto inflating cuff for £1. Mister CJ and I have tried this several times since coming home but are not convinced it works properly as the readings are spectacularly different (and very wrong) every time we do it. Probably not such a bargain after all!
