Hi dorry, if your dh reckons he could do all the housework in 7 hours a week why don't you call his bluff ? You could either NOT do ANYTHING for a week except maybe cook the tea and add up how long just doing this takes you everyday. Or challenge him to do everything and see how long it takes him. Honestly sometimes MEN grrr !

Hi ellidee, we have been married 12 years and I have tried this before, when I was pregnant and could not stop being sick, I left it all to him and what a mess followed  The whole place was in chaos and poor ds1 really suffered!

So I am left with a dillemma, of sorts. He works long hours and has two jobs, so normally works 7 days a week, so he would not have the time to do any! warnng rant coming.......
I was furious   when he said that my two jobs, (hw + 30hours) weren't that much reallly and then questioned why i needed to have the week off with ds2 (11year) without pay!!! I work for the agency now that I have left uni and have a really well paid job, so I have made up the money others weeks, I have worked 30 hours since kids went back on 5 sept!!

my and hubby were fighting last night, as I am off over half term with ds2, I don't get paid, as I work for the agency! He just kept saying that my 30 hours at work and me doing everything at home, did only add to up to a full time job of 37 hours. He reckons, he could do all the housework, cooking, foodshopping, washing and ironing in under 7 hours a week:eek: I just burst out laughing and swore at him:mad: what do others think?? how long do we really spend doing all these chores???

My DH is very capable he works full time and is building our house extention in his free time. He has always helped with the housework though does less now cos of the extention, but he is the same he constantly moans that either the housework is not done ( that he can see anyway) or that it takes me so long but when he does it it take him minutes. what he does not realise when he does it and i am at home the kids all come to me still and he can do the housework without any interruption of any kind. When i do the housework i still have the kids interrupting the, the phone, the door, the animals the umpteen other things that happen that i can not control which means it takes me longer to do it and by that time its all a mess again as the kids are playing, doing homework etc etc
    Still Trying :o

really, I think the top and bottom of it, is that he is p***ed off, cos he's at work and I am off this week with ds2  .

I told him last night, that he was born the wrong sex, (I think he wants to be a stay at home mum ) :rotfl: and that he has married the wrong woman ie: should of married a 'yes' woman !!!:rotfl:

Urgh I am struggling with housework etc too!
I've been living with my OH for 2 years now and still haven't managed to get him to help out properly. He'll clean the loo out but not much else! I work full time, more hours than he does. He says his job is physical (it is, but mine is mentally demanding and I suffer from Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia) so just sleeps and I just go into 'Mum mode' and try and do what I can, even though my mobility is limited, especially after a day in the classroom!
I've been trying flylady but I've been too tired to do even the simplest things and feel a failure. Thanks goodness for half term, although I'm getting over a virus so am absolutely shattered, plus I'm doing at least 2 days extra work with my holiday job... urgh!
    I'll get there... honest!!

    Hi everyone,

My house used to be a pigsty - really dirty and I was ashamed and embarrased. Earlier this year I had to have 3 months off work due to ill health and I chose to do a little bit each day to get the house clean. I followed the flylady thread on here and started by just trying to do a little bit each day. Initially things took a long time to do especially in the kitchen but then they become easier the more you do them. Even tho I work full time again now I still find time to do stuff and I feel SO much better about it but there are some days I just dont want to do anything so dont. The thread is a tool to help you do a job and everyone on there motivates each other and we all have good and bad days. Every so often someone will throw in a picture of their mess and boy does it make you feel good about your own.

I would start by making a list of what things are important to YOU or OH and ensure these are done daily (no more than 6 as it has to be achievable). It only might be clear away tea things and washing up or wiping over bathroom sink/shower. Do those things for a while and you will feel a difference.

Music is definitely a motivator as well (as said early but I'm not so sure about the Dolly Parton !!) mine at the moment is the MIKA album!! And as I have more to do I think its going on now

    natzine,

I know what you mean, If I hadn't had this week off, it would off meant me working from for 17 weeks without a break:eek: (until xmas school hols) I think especially in winter, as we get virus' and bugs, it can be extremely difficult.

I did think about going in this week, as I have the rest of the year since January, in the school hols, but like you I had a nasty virus and was coughin like a good un, also If I had gone to work, it would off meant adding another 2 hours travelling time onto my 8 hour day:eek: It takes half an hour to get to mil to drop ds2 off, then another 3/4 to travel to work and then the same again in the evening, but longer as traffic is worse the other way. I told hubby this reason and he just said, that he would off collected ds2, one night:T It's a bit late offering now
