Exactly! Scratch the surface and all sorts of carp leaks out
She is, thanks - as a family, we have slow recovery times, so we just have to go through it. We'll definitely get at least one holiday next year, and maybe she'll be able to go with her daughter too.elantan said:how on earth can you have a talk by a MP and it not be political ? are they gonna talk about the flowers they are growing ?
Yep! The talk is entitled Local Matters, and even in this strongly pro-govt constituency, they've had a lot of complaints - the head honcho was doubtful it would even take place.
And a conservative as well, they are currently in the hot seat so it's clear people are going to want to get political, just like if we had the SNP up here, you better believe it would be political
Yep - that's definitely where it's going 🤣
hope sis is feeling a little better, maybe try for a wee caravan break next year ?2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
NCT? As in National Childbirth Trust?
I briefly worked at their offices in London for a while in the 80s which is why I ask!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Yes, the one in Bayswater! Oh my word! I'm still in touch with one woman I met there, unusually for meWatty1 said:NCT? As in National Childbirth Trust?

Which department were you in? I was working for the boss and her deputy, while I started to train as a therapist
Must check time of employment, we'll know if we overlapped!2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
No casual photos at work in those days 🤣 but looking at other photos, I must have worked there from 1985 to 1986, I know I only stayed about a year.2023: the year I get to buy a car1

I've had a reply from the Chair of the sub-group thats hosting the event I complained about - assuring me that the talk will be non-political, so that's okay! This is a discussion group, and they don't even understand that asking a political figure to talk about a not overtly political subject *is* political. I've drafted something (and substituted my own email address in case of fat fingers and it gets sent too early 😲) I'll see how I feel tomorrow.
Yet more bitty things: finding the right place to file the genealogy certificate I just bought took 15 minutes, for example. Add in mosaic pieces from a craft lesson on the cruise, old rechargeable batteries for an experiment, finally cleaning all the shopping, stashing a couple of share certificates - the house is tidier than its been in months 🤣2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Ermmm if you have free time you could come and tidy mine ? It's currently a coup 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Email has been sent, explaining a few facts of life. I have no hope it will change the outcome, but I couldn't let such a complacent response slide by.
Anyway - today is catchup on the catchup, including cooking some beans I've soaked overnight, and preparing for sister's birthday - staying with her, meeting up with her kids, seeing the baby in RL, all good.
Absolute downpour right now! The reservoir could do with it.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -

I've literally just said the same on my diary! It's got to help, hasn't it.

I think you were right to send the email. It may change things... who knows, by the time it takes place, everything might have changed again anyway (even if it's this afternoon!). Such an absolute farce.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Oh very close. I worked there after returning from India. It must have been same period ish. I worked for the Postnatal group (chair was Jo something I think). Worked for a while in the library right at the top of the building next to the classroom and then down in the basement. Can't remember the exact year but possibly 1984 ish?Karmacat said:No casual photos at work in those days 🤣 but looking at other photos, I must have worked there from 1985 to 1986, I know I only stayed about a year.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thanks for this - it's very troubling in some ways, because this is such a stronghold for t'other side, and as I try to reach out locally, I'm going to find lots of this. A member of the walking group last year had the grace to apologise for something she said about Liverpool, but I dunno ... it makes me very unsure about staying herethemadvix said:Karmacat said:

Wow! I think you probably left just before I arrived - I shared the top of the building with the deputy administrator, Anne, who was an NCT member herself. I'll pm you with a few names - don't want to use yours if I name you by accident!Watty1 said:
