Good morning!  Jobs for today that are continuations of all the financial nonsense:

    - "refund" to my French bank is going ahead - I got an email telling me so at 3.30 this morning apparently 🤐 at least they've used the right information.  Heaven only knows if they'll leave me with a debit there, because there wasn't enough money to cover the refund they want to make.  I need to sit on my hands till the start of November, I think, all of the transactions that caused this confusion took place in the last week, since October 10th.

    - - my boiler gave me an F10 error code over the weekend (though it subsequently worked).  Means an engineer, pretty soon, so tidying up is of equal importance with the next point:

    - weeding for the green bin.

I'd love to get going on the ISA for this year, but I'm juggling a fair few balls right now.  Genealogy is proving to be a nice retreat from that juggling, in spite of it actually being about a bankruptcy following a relative's death!  And oh good grief, the press conference is supposed to be at 11am.

Plugging away at steps for several projects, and they seem to be working now:

    - the E2000 that my currency transfer rejected because they thought it referred to a previous transaction for E2020 has arrived back in my French bank account.  I'll leave it there till November, and try again.

    - Happy Wheel won't let me spin today, because I have some prior free spins backed up.  But I can't take the free spins on a game because that particular game won't load properly 🤣

    - phone calls and texts being juggled, as well as watching a recording of a funeral on the funeral director's website, this has taken most of today's morning.  All of it is a bit sad, but no way for me to help, other than sending love and sympathy.

    - massive amounts of tidying going on 😛 one little thing gets left out and then creates chaos 😛

    - I spent a long time, over a period of 4 days, drafting an email to U3A - one of the groups locally is hosting a talk from the local conservative MP, and they've bolded "non political".  In the current climate, I find this disturbing, so I kept on re-writing the email till it was very civil but still made the points I wanted to make, and sent it to the coordinator.  He's already replied, said he'll send it on to the group hosting the talk, which is very good news.

So those are all good!   For the rest of the day:
    - several birthday cards due for the weekend.
    - the tidying must extend to the porch 🤣 shoes left out since the Iceland cruise really need to be packed away 😲😲😲 plus shopping and assorted nonsense.
    - spaceflighty links followed up for group next week - I need to get the little gizmo that supports the phone while I watch videos.
    - nothing much physical there, so I'll try to do the birthday cards this morning, and get out to the postbox for a proper walk early afternoon.

I agree, how on earth can a talk by an MP of any colour be "non-political".  Just the very fact of an MPs presence makes it political.  Just realised - by any colour I mean red or blue or possibly yellow, not the other kind which is irrelevant.

It sounds like you're making good progress there KC  Quite right about the email re the talk by the MP - I fail to see how anything an MP does isn't political in some way (one of the reasons I've never been on a tour of the HoP - because the easiest way is by going with your MP).

How can an MP talk be non-political?
Well done for raising this KC
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Aw, thank you, lovely people - that feels good.

Ooh, tours of the HoP - true story, in the 80s I worked as a secretary for central NCT for a year, and I went along to the HoP with the Deputy Administrator for a discussion there.  The MP took us to one of the cafes, all very quiet and pleasant at first, and it was nice to get out of the office.  But the MP was Edwina Currie, and it soon disintegrated into her snarking about her secretary's personal habits.

What I learned back in the day is true: the personal is political!

Edwina - another one who almost destroyed farmers single handed by not understanding what she was told.  Nothing new ever, is there?  Some of these politicians are frightening in their ignorance.  They criticise secondary moderns from back before they got rid of grammar schools, but most of them know more about real life things than these politicians do.  Public schools have a lot to answer for, although I don't think ALL public schools can come under this.  Some actually see people other than their "schoolmates".  Thankfully.

And let us not forget Edwina's affair with John Major - what was she thinking.  If one of us had an affair with the boss we know the likely outcome & it wouldn't be promotion.

Nothing to do with an MP is non political, especially at the moment.

how on earth can you have a talk by a MP and it not be political ? are they gonna talk about the flowers they are growing ?

And a conservative as well, they are currently in the hot seat so it's clear people are going to want to get political, just like if we had the SNP up here, you better believe it would be political

hope sis is feeling a little better, maybe try for a wee caravan break next year ?
