Good luck! I confess I pretty much immediately forgot about thrifty September (I can't even remember what I was calling it, oh dear!!) Definitely did focus on energy monitoring though - will tot uptomorrow. Have a good day!2

how about an Organised October ?2
-
Thanks both - El, Organised October sounds great, a real "choose what you need" type, without being too specific. I shall think of it that way
All I've done of the list I just posted is to finish the second use of the washing machine - stuff that's dry has been hanging around (literally, ha) and now I need to make space and see if I can shuffle things around.
ETA: shuffle of the washing has been finished, and I *just* managed to input my elec and gas figures - Scottish Power is getting people to queue to enter the website, but even so, it took two tries before I managed to get my figures accepted. I've taken a lot of photos as proof2023: the year I get to buy a car1 -

so here goes:
- email space buddy about meetings late next month, and watch the whatsapp link he sent about the latest rocket shenanigans.
DONE
- get the information together so that I can phone the French bank, and write a rough script.
SEE BELOW, HA!
- carry on catching up with doing the washing - its a *long* time since I washed the towelsmight as well do it now before the 20% increase in electricity on Saturday.
DOING
- if I can do it without feeling stressed, and the French thing goes okay, send the experimental E20 to my Wise account.
SEE BELOW, HA!
- there's a YG survey in my inbox. That would be relaxing!
DONE
- do a bit of a review of my sensible/soaring September aims - I haven't done as much as I wanted, but I've worked as hard as I could on them. Most of the time 😛
NOPE, BEEN DOING ALL OF THIS CARP.
- meter reading and submission! Nearly forgot!
DONE. IT TOOK 45 MINUTES, 1240 PEOPLE IN THE QUEUE BEFORE ME.
Verified my identity with my existing currency company (passport and selfie), had it accepted. Then had it rejected 🤣 they can't see my passport clearly enough, which doesn't actually surprise me, its overprinted like crazy. I need to find my driving license, they accept them, but I can't find it. Oh wait! Just as I wrote that, I've thought of another place to look - the paperwork I took to get the foreign currency the other day. Still on my desk ... Okay, I can try that.
French bank - checking on the information they sent me about how to get my mobile number to them in a way they'll accept - found that the form they sent me is interactive, so I filled it in. But it won't accept my signature! I'll see if they'll take it, anyway.
Plus the French bank also wants a bill for said mobile phone number within the last 3 months. And Three wouldn't let me log in, just kept going round and round various captcha screens, so I went to live chat, who agreed to send me a recent bill, to my email address, within 2 hours. It hasn't arrived yet, we'll see. If it arrives, I'll send it and the form to the bank. If they accept it, then after 2 working days, I can arrange the 20 euro transfer to my currency company!!! And if that goes well, I can then send the proper amount.
Honestly, the end of the world would be quicker to arrange 🤣🤣🤣2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
It can be really interesting. They have trouble with people who only do normal things but those who are ripping us all off do not seem to be a problem at all. What is not to love!!

Ah, your experience with submitting meter readings may explain why I got an email saying there was no need for me to submit a reading as my tariff remains fixed. I want to read mine on the last day of the month so my usage is tracked more accurately, so having been got up by needy dog in the dead of night, I read the meter at 0430 this morning and submitted it with no queue, also with SP.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

What a palaver to pay the bank!! How much longer have you got left??
Very impressed at you waiting in a queue to submit readings KC, and to you SL doing it at 4.30am! 😱 I did mine yesterday morning just in case - will try today as well, fingers crossed...2 -

I'm just trying to pay me, Cheery 😄 now that the French mortgage is paid off, years ago now, the money's been building up - there's E12k over there right now, and I don't want to earn interest over there because of how difficult it is to sort the tax declarations over here, so I really want that money to come to the UK. But for years, I moved money in the opposite direction. And security's tighter these days anyway, which is no bad thing. It's death by a thousand cuts, but I **will** get there.

With all the washing I'm running through the machine at the moment (catching up after illness and the holiday, really) and the time of year as well, it's not drying - I'm seriously considering turning the heating on and leaving a couple of windows open. The house is kind of soggy when I wake up 👀2023: the year I get to buy a car1 -
Morning Karna 😀. Getting together a list is productive in itself so go you! You’ll have negotiated your way round that French red tape in no time 🙈😂Original mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!2 -
Good morning Pinky! Yep, I love a list, that's for sure
I had to abandon it yesterday though. I was in and out of the house, up and down too, finding space to dry all these loads of washing (its wonderful to have **everything** clean!) and I did manage a walk, at a pretty good pace, and that was that until about 7pm, when I finally managed to put the dishwasher on.
Today, I'm hoping to make things a little bit different from the preceding week. Do some easy stuff in the garden, *possibly* clear and clean the kitchen window so I can put the curtain up there, and, ta-da, some writing. Whether that's genealogy or a one-off of something else, we'll see.
I've done a Happy Wheel and a YG survey, that's the only things that are money today - though I think I *will* take photos of the meters.2023: the year I get to buy a car1
