HELP! My French bank have replied, and said that I have to phone them to update my account details with my mobile phone number. This has given me the screaming ab-dabs, of course, and I have no clue how to phone France at any reasonable rate. Can anybody help me, please? Proper nightmare! I've looked through the main mse website, plus googled, and I've come up with dial123, talkingnumber, vyke, and my own broadband provider or mobile service provider (vodafone and three). Really teed off! The French bank seems so up to date in some ways, and then something like this pops up, from the 19th century. Yeah, I know. Calming down now - but any help much appreciated.
I also ordered the socks, and some knickers, which took **ages** - I'd always paid as a guest on the M&S website, but couldn't do it with it being tracked by TCB - and nowhere did it say that you had to give them your cc details before you could pay. Not happy, and I've a good mind to delete it after I get the socks and the cashback money. It's listed already, at any rate - all 45p of it 🤣 I've arranged the collection for next Wednesday, not doing it at the weekend, and there's U3A stuff to attend to Mon and Tues.
These two things have taken **hours** - much longer than I intended. So it goes. Definitely going to have a cuppa tea.2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
Right, today is fiddly stuff:
- re-do the Healthy Supplies order, using the free walnuts code.
DONE
- close the stupid regular saver at my bank - it's a rate of 0.49% p.a. about £11k, so I'll be ready to either use the empty ISA I just opened, or the Raisin bond, which is higher than anything I've got.
DONE
- my bank closes at 2pm today and tomorrow, and it's closed all over the weekend. Getting a bit close to the cut-off point to swap old currency, I think I might go in today at a time when I think there might not be too many people around.
DONE
- email to a couple of people. I owe so many people I've not done it at all, just abandoned it
DONE (ONLY TO 4 PEOPLE, BUT ITS A START)
- birthday card to ex-partner in the city by the sea.
- use the silicon on those two holes, one of them let in a rather big guest this morning - my startle response is really toxic, adrenalin overload 😲
- recycling and rubbish out of the house and garden
Plus, another financial task completed - after I went to the bank, I went to the Post Office to return the unused Icelandic and Greenlandic currency. With one thing and another, its nearly £1k, so I'm going to buy some premium bonds. I'm definitely getting through the list.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Not sure if you have phoned the French bank yet? I had a panic at the beginning of the first lockdown when I had a long phone meeting for work and discovered at the end that the person i was phoning had gone back home to a European country just before borders were closed and failed to mention it till the end of the call. My mobile is with Vod@fone so I called them to find out if I'd be charged but happily my contract covered this. Of course, this was pre Brexit so maybe a different story now. Anyway the point of my rambling is to maybe call your mobile provider for advice? Good luck 🤞🏼3

I haven't called yet, no, it all became problematic with the thought of needing to do a phone call - and yes, you're right, I need to check with my landline and mobile providers, that's the basic. I think it will be extra, but how much extra is the issue 🤞🏼
ETA - what I *have* also done is placed the Waitrose order, as I know what Xmas present booze to buy.
I still really need to post that birthday card. And put the rubbish out. Then that's it, nothing else!2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
This may be of no use to you, and please feel free to ignore.
My son lives with sensitive skin and eczema we have tried many different things over the years, he finds if he showers too often he is irritated ( skin to dry) of he works out too often his skin is irritated ( too much sweat) but if he drinks hell I cant remember its name but it is
water 2tbl spoons apple cider vinegar, ginger, lemon dash of salt and honey it really helps his skin, he can work out when he wants and can shower when he wants, he makes a concentrate once a week and decant some every day into a bottle and tops it up with water
As I say if it's no good please feel free to ignore2 -
El, that's very interesting - lots of balanced items in there, and apple cider vinegar is very well known. I too have difficulty if I shower too often, sounds very similar to your son, except about the skin irritation from sweat (though heat/ sun is agony). I don't want to amend the shop that's arriving on Saturday, but I'll work on next month's Asda delivery, ta muchly.2023: the year I get to buy a car1

theres a proper name for it with a recipe online but I cant remember the name for the life of me right now, farmers used it years ago when in the fields, to replace electrolytes etc
I use real ginger, I boil it for a bit to soften the toughness out then let it cool before adding it to the mix ( I add the water it boils in as well )
it's quite a refreshing drink, as I say son swears by it for him, dont think his skin is as irritated when he is out in the sun, it's more when he does a work out, he has also noticed if he eats rubbish his skin instantly shows it, takeaways can really irritate him, so he decides if it is worth the pain sometimes2 -
You are rattling through those financial jobs KC! You’ve inspired me. I’m going to get on Raisin and look for a better home for my long term savings now the interest rate increase has been confirmed. Good luck with your French phone call. That’s the sort of frog I’d put off swallowing for weeks 🙈😂xOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!2 -
Switchel, and like that at 3am my brain fires out the answer ... google switchel:-)2

Found it, El! How To Make Traditional Switchel (Haymaker's Punch) (ruralsprout.com)
Caribbean, probably! How exoticI confess I wouldn't be making from scratch - but I have ground ginger, that sort of thing, I'm just about to do an Asda order, I'll get there. There's a million articles on ACV alone on Healthline Search Results (healthline.com) I can see that one of them mentions psoriasis. And there's this Wiki article too How to Drink Apple Cider Vinegar: 10 Steps (with Pictures) (wikihow.com)
That'll keep me busy!pinkypig said:You are rattling through those financial jobs KC! You’ve inspired me. I'm not doing the French phone call today 🙈😂 your emojis are very apt 🙈😂 I *will* research what Vodafone and Three say about phoning France, as teapot pointed out, that's the first step, and I shouldn't need to speak to anyone, which gives me the horrors thinking about it 😂
I'm juggling a bit today, and a bit tired after yesterday, so it's going to be a ta-da, not a to-do today
