It’s shooting season, so pheasants are being released from rearing pens all over the place and being pests. They’ll only get up to fly if forced.
Of course! Our wild ones locally come and sit on our out-building roofs and hide in the garden when there is a shoot (none here so far, but previously the run them over the winter (after the crops are all in). Maybe the late harvesting of beets has impacted

The ones I saw might be hiding from people with shotguns etc out in the country - this field is actually well inside the town, and right by the school that uses it for farming practice (plus it's surrounded by houses), so they're not being released to be shot.  No idea, really!  But it's very interesting, there's a whole life and lifestyle going on right under my nose that I know absolutely nothing about :) I love it.

Ahem.  I made a Victoria sponge!  Mixed it very badly, forgot I had an electric hand held mixer, so it wasn't that great, and I ate my slice too late - result was that I was completely wired overnight, only got up at 9.30.  Definitely caught up on sleep  :#

Christmas is arriving.  Baby is to be visited.  Tax papers to be corralled.  Cards to be written.  Ten minute speech about space junk to be written for Tuesday.  It's happened again, argh!  Got to get my act together.

What a relief that must be!

  • Glad to hear it's sorted and you're in no way out of pocket KC 😀

An apology payment is something you'd expect from a company that actually cares about customer experience and brand reputation. What you've said so far inspires very little confidence... Of course if you're willing to make some (fairly public) noise, it should sound the right alarm bells and you might see something happen!

Thanks SSS - I can hardly believe it, to be honest, it took the whole of November and left no energy for anything else, so when I wake up to it, I'll be thrilled :):):)

Today - I'm a bit too tired to do what I want, but I'm doing what I can - almost entirely the space seminar notes for tomorrow.  Still living the life of a 19 year old student, so it goes  >:) Of course, unlike said student, I wrote the notes on my laptop, upped the font size, put it into a pdf document, and sent it to my phone  :D as I don't want to take my laptop, its too big.  Sometimes technology makes things *so* easy :)

Filthy weather here - I cleaned some plantpots finally, as they got thrown around in Storm Arwen and like everyone else I'm expecting Storm Barra tomorrow, but it was too rainy to do more.  Well, either it's tidying papers upstairs, or starting to write addresses on the Christmas card envelopes, as they've started to turn up.

  • Hope the storm isn’t too bad for you. We had to reinforce the fence after Arwen and looking at the wind speeds and gusts I’m glad we did!

Thanks debtfree - what on earth were you doing up at that time! Very good idea to strengthen the fence though.  Most of mine are brand spanking new, the one that isn't is hidden by the overgrown box hedge, so it's good.  The weather didn't really build up until this afternoon - I had my Spaceflight meeting with U3A this morning, so I was glad it waited to kick off until I got back inside.  It's extra grim now, though the windspeeds are down on what was threatened 24 hours ago.  Checked out the metoffice map, and 3 of my holiday places of this year - Climping, Bucklers Hard and Lymington, are all under red notice of flooding right now.  I'm lying - Climping is orange.

Meeting was great, though the elderly gent isn't going to attend any more.  I don't think he can actually hear what we're saying, or follow it either.  He wants to keep up on WhatsApp though, so that's good.

I'm not doing anything at all today except maybe a YG survey and putting the dishwasher on.  Conservation of energy and all that :)

That does indeed sound impressive! And the spaceflight meeting sounds exciting - I thought for a minute you'd had some kind of simulator! 😁
