Karma, do you have a food processor? It makes a great/quick/clean crumble. I hate rubbing fat in!

Me too!  I have one of those lunette things ... semicircles of chopping edges attached to a handle.  I loath getting the mix under my fingernails :smiley::smiley:

Oh I love them - memories of childhood baking with Nan! Rubbing in my hand always seems such a faff! (Used to love getting the brownies to do it for pack holiday crumbles!)

I think I have red currants that are two years old in the freezer 😳 but I am up to date on the rhubarb, although it needs pulling  again! 🙄

It's all sounding good, ladies  I managed to make the crumble, after defrosting the rhubarb: I feared for it, quite frankly, as it was very sloppy, but it was *fantastic* the best crumble I've ever made, and I used the recipe I've had since I was 14!  It was almost like sponge - maybe because it was gf flour, or maybe it was the sloppiness.  Lovely.  I'm very glad to hear about the length of time frozen - I was a teeny bit concerned, but it's probably about 9 months?  I'll harvest all of it this year, and everything else as well.  The salad burnet, the chives and the winter savory in particular are yelling at me :)

I also did a bit of decluttering, accidentally - couldn't find the new pack of white sugar I wanted to use up (currently buying demerara).  I had a box file full of envelopes and Amazon cardboard parcels for books.  And now I don't  o:)

I’ve found that gf flour gives it a different texture - it doesn’t stick together in the same way somehow. Glad it was good! (Think I might have to make one tomorrow now!)

Now that the flour I'm using is only just out of date, the texture is so much better :) and I definitely recommend making a crumble tomorrow 👍🥧

Another quick way to rub in for a crumble or pastry is to use a potato masher - not a long handled one - one with a bar across the top
