Good morning lovely peeps
a very slow start for me today, but a big ta-da, I managed to write 3 emails that I "owed" to people (ie wanted to send, but hadn't). That feels very good. Breaking for lunch now, then get a little bit of time outside, and I'm definitely hankering after some genealogy research. And Jamie Oliver's easy cook chocolate bake

Thanks beanie
I had a great afternoon with the genealogy work too - weirdly, it felt like I was on holiday
I want to do an oral history interview with the elderly rellie up in Yorkshire, and I can't until I have all my ducks in a row with the information I've already got about that part of the family.
Nice little local walk today with my sister, we went to see the lambs at the miniature farm run by the local school. No calves yet. Taking another break today, all I'm going to do is make sure I can eat and wear warm clothes.

I certainly use that approach
and ooh, what a good idea! I could also lower the amount of oats slightly: I don't have any problems with out of date oats
) and increase ground almonds. Or sesame seeds. Thank you greent!
I relaxed again yesterday - sitting out with the sun on my face after meeting up with my sister, and continuing with the one family I'm updating in my genealogy notes. Today, I think a couple of emails begging off contact till I feel better, get a nice flapjack recipe, and a bit more genealogy. There's one piece of gardening I really need to do: there are two 2 year old ash seedlings I need to killone is in the middle of my front yard, right by the gate, and the other is in the middle of my oregano plant. I'm going to have to use herbicide

Victory is mine for the coconut recipe
I decided to explore stuff I'd already downloaded rather than fresh interwebulator searching. I came up with something I downloaded at the end of May 2017
"afternoon snack bars", somebody's tried out a Nigella recipe on here, then posted how and why they changed/simplified it. I'm sure it's from mse
if it works, I'll post the thing.

Victory is *sort* of mine
the quantities of the recipe were absolutely huge, and I substituted some dates in favour of some dessicated coconut. So I have a *lot* of snack bars now. The recipe is 325g dates/coconut, 250g seeds (reduced to 200g ground almonds), 50g cocoa, 125g flour instead of oats, 325ml water, which I increased by 50ml, and 2tsp cinnamon. It's not sweet, thankfully, but nor is it particularly tangy, it needs a lot more spice. But if I needed to bake something fairly nutritious and dense, this is what I'd use
I've also discovered how greaseproof paper makes things about 500% easier, I'm a convert. Loving it.

That's good! I never use foil to cook with, it's aluminium after all, and I threw out my aluminium pans 20 years ago, at least - I'm not letting hot aluminium near food I cook at home. It's good environmentally and healthwise - if you don't use *something* the scrubbing that needs to be done is just horrendous.2023: the year I get to buy a car3
