Personally, I don't use silicone for anything that is in contact with food, but those silicone cupcake liners are amazing for recycling candle ends & soap ends into new as they pop out with zero grief!  Also silicone grips for pots are amazing for stopping heat transfer & a non-slip grip.

We've purchased a few replacement pots and pans over the past few years, as some of the ancient ones we were gifted 15 years ago became unusable.  A set of three fake le cru3set - all three were on clearance & cost less than 1/2 the price of one of the brand name ones.🤣  We both swear that food tastes better cooked in these heavy pots!

We've never had a non-stick pan until during C-19 lockdown we decided to make crepes.  The pan we bought was a chef's grade one on clearance and has a titanium finish on top of forged aluminum.  The aluminum does not come in contact with food at all, but is amazing for even heat transfer.  We didn't even know that such a pan existed until we started researching them!  It's amazing how much even simple things have evolved from the days of my grandma's cast iron skillet!

Oh wow!  Madvix, what a fantastic link, thank you!  I've just been ogling the bakeware ... oh my word.  Good to hear that the seasoning process they describe really does work.  They sound wonderful, and I love those griddles  <3 though sadly I think I'll be restricted to buying special presents - it can't be put into the dishwasher, fair enough, and if I'm spending that sort of money, I need to be able to use it all the time.  Very frustrated at needing to protect my hands.

I do have some silicon petit fours cases  :D which is strange  :D and as RT mentioned, I can really see myself using those for soap/candle ends if need be.  They're small, I can keep them indefinitely (shan't be doing it any time soon, but I'd like to keep the option).

Today, I have to send a birthday card **now**, to catch the post.  Otherwise, a phone call, and preparing for the next plants from Sarah Raven, which might be tricky.  The plantpots I was going to use to pot them on aren't really big enough, I don't have any others easily accessible, ie they're in the brick shed, which I open about once a year, and will be draped in enormous spiders, sigh ... yikes, between the basil and the mint, I need 17 pots.  I'd better start work on that, the 5 sage took much longer than I thought, because of the re-replanting.  For now, though, the card!

Totally understand about having to protect hands/energy and wanting to use the dishwasher (that’s definitely me!) but because you only give it a quick scrub with hot water it’s actually pretty easy to care for - a bit of kitchen roll to mop up the oil and a quick wash and done. Please don’t take that as me trying to persuade you - just sharing my experience!

I’ve been on there again this morning - really just need to buy what I need and stop dithering- but there’s so much pretty stuff!! I think they’d make great presents 😊

I understand, madvix, I really do :) I wish my hands would understand that I'm actually your age, not my age  :*  >:) that would be very convenient, even though it needs an assist from Doctor Who.

Sage plants look like they're doing well - I put them out all day, with a mint that overwintered in the house.  Brought them all inside about 6pm, its so chilly out there!  And I found some good plantpots in the house, as well as realising I have two 30 litre bags of compost sitting around in the garden, so we'll see how all that that goes.  I need to do some work on finding drainage stones, more pots, and protection for them all.  Certainly not thinking about it now!

Wow KC - you are brave going out there in the cold! - I'm much less adventurous.  Spent a total of 10 minutes out there checking out the potato grow bags, the peas & nasturtiums, and then came back in to the warm.  They are supposedly easy enough for children to grow & I'm easily pleased watching them do their thing 😁

Hi RT - um, I may have phrased it badly - I spent about 20 minutes out there all told  there's been more effect this morning from taking the potted-on plants out there again to carry on hardening off.  It was drizzling when I took them out, but it kept turning into cloudbursts 😲 so I had to go out and balance them on the edge of the tray, so they weren't drowned.  That was about 3 minutes  and I was drenched!  Had to use a towel to mop my hair!  Then I had to go out and empty the tray of water, because even with the plantpots balanced on it's edge, they were still submerged!  In between cloudbursts, the sun is really bright!

Spent some time weeding the patio - I really need to get the stones sealed ... warmed myself up with a nice hot shower, that was good.

Interesting finance thingy: I do spend the odd 99p nowadays on not-quite-free books on Amazon - if I find an apocalyptic fiction book set in England, I'll likely buy it.  I did yesterday, and it was terrible.  Really, really bad, I couldn't read past chapter 3 - and when I returned to the orders list, for the first time ever I really noticed the refund button!  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  It gets deleted from all my devices, which is really good news, and I actually do get the refund.  Very pleased with that :)

My Amazon refund for the kindle 99p has been confirmed - I'm really pleased about that, it also stops messing up my kindle, though I know I could just delete it.

There'll be 2 long phone calls today; I've done a load of washing and a couple of bits are hanging out (I don't trust the weather!) and the sage plants are out enjoying the weather.  I made a big supermarket order for a week on Wednesday, really good value.

I need to get outside more!  My 45 minutes of patio weeding yesterday really tired me out - having the 2nd vaccine, focussing on the genealogy, I haven't been doing enough physically.  More weeding is needed today, the bin is being emptied tomorrow.  Sadly, there's nothing planned about the re-opening, my socialising is all on the phone today.  Still, socialising is real :)

We are on the same wave length there - I put a struggling primrose outside yesterday in the rain & it looks to be picking up.  It had a proper shower which I'm hoping has washed away the mites that were feasting on the leaves & making it wilt!  At the moment the leaves are a bit damaged but it's no longer wilting so I may just leave it outside until it gets some new growth and proves to me it is worth taking up windowsill space!
