  • Hi KC, would you mind sharing the full recipe? I'm an omnivore through and through, but I'd like to try my hand at a nut loaf :)

I've been having a few days off this weekend, and this has continued today, yay.  But I have been into the garden and tidied as much as I can - rhodedendron trimmings, gathering plantpots, tidyiing tools away, that sort of thing, since the forecast gusts are a bit handy.  I'm going to do a bit more of that - there's always more tidying in this neck of the woods  :D but that's all.

    Enjoy the day, everyone :)

I'm impressed you've been outside at all today - I assume your weather has been better than ours! 😮

Would you believe I've spent 26 years as a vegetarian, 7 of those (near the beginning) vegan, and I've never made a nut roast?! 😮😂😂 Shocking really! I do make a kind of rice and lentil loaf occasionally (literally just rice and lentils boiled in a pan with a stock cube, then squashed into a tin and baked for a while 😂 ), and Mr Cheery does occasional fancy things with chestnuts at Christmas. I really must up my nut roast game!

Cheery - you are not alone! I've been Veggie for ~35 years (and a Pescetarian who hated fish for a further 7 or so years before that 🤣 - I was a child at the time!) and have never cooked a nut loaf. I think I was traumatised by dry, vile nut loaf that was so dense it could be used as weights as a young child in 80s - it put me off for life! 😳🤣

Omnivore here (apart from gluten!) and I first had a nut loaf as a student, made by some veggie friends. I have occasionally made one, but it's never been as good as I remember their one being. And we're still in contact, over 30 years later 😀.

Well the chickens have been hiding in our porch all day and it took a LOT of persuading to get them up the drive to their own run 😂😂 They hate the wind, more than I do. Ruffles their feathers (and mine) 🙄😂

Poor little things!  When I lived in the city by the sea, and I had my cats, a thunder and lightning storm came charging in, and my timid, oversized black and white cat was cowering at the bottom of my garden, absolutely terrified.  I stood there like a lemon calling her for ages, till I couldn't count to "one" between hearing the thunder and having the lightning strike ... I turned and ran into the house, and she ran past me  :) bless her little cotton socks.

Apple - have you asked them their secret?  Enquiring nut eaters would like to know :)

Another pescatarian who isn’t a fan of nut roasts here. I have had one fairly recently that was nice but I’ve generally found them inedible and dry. Fortunately chefs are really keen on expanding their veggie/vegan options these days!
