I use these type of jars for flour but that is because DH had ten as a teacher (6 of which were unused) - 4 reside at other people's houses and we swap when they want more flour. I also keep one or two paper sacks as they are good for storing vegetables not in the fridge
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

That's right, RT, I was blithering about a hat recently :)

SL, lovely big jars!  The flour is currently residing in all different types - Asda sells yogurt in pots that are double the usual size, they're like buckets :D and I've got 4 - 5 of those.  Kilner cliptop jars I bought at a charity shop.  Big beetroot jars, the 910g weight ones.  Smaller olive/onion jars, that contained 400g or so.  And a few plastic storage boxes   They and their lids have all been through the dishwasher after initial cleaning, so I've no qualms about using them - though the yogurt pots won't be terribly long lasting, I'm sure.  I'll sellotape them shut, anyway.

Now they're cleared off the kitchen table, I'm very tempted to concentrate on amassing material and haberdashery to make face masks etc.  We'll see.

Well done on operation 'put away the flour' - it's always so satisfying giving something a proper home!

Spent a good hour this morning finishing dealing with Monday's bi-weekly grocery shop.  Tins, jars & packages are all in their proper home and various refills (pasta/flour/seasonings) into their glass jars.  The restock of cleaning supplies are now under the sink and OH will hoover & wash the kitchen floor for me in a bit.

During the first lock-down I ambitiously bought a catering size dark soy refill that was no more expensive than two of the normal size.  I didn't realize just how much there was in there!  I've refilled our little bottle at least four times now & it looks like I have at least 10 more refills left in the large bottle!  I've learned a lot over the past year about what is sensible to buy in bulk & what is down-right ridiculous!  In 'normal times' when I worked from the office rather than home, anytime I got crazy bargain it would get shared out amongst colleagues 😂

This dratted flour was definitely a panic buy, RT - I mean, I bought it last April, and I'm only just about to use it?  Madness!  And it was expensive per kilo too - it's a good lesson, you can stock up all you like, but unless it's stuff you use, in a fairly timely way, you *might* be on a hiding to nothing.

The confirmation of the premium bond purchase I made on Monday has come through from NSandI, so I've just bought another lot, same amount.  I only had £200 left in there when I started this, it would be a lot of fun if I won one of the big prizes  >:)

My premium bonds account was already online, Cheery, so it was pretty easy to start the process up :) hope yours go through as smoothly.

I'll see you giant sellotape and raise you giant rolls of paper :) my dad was a printer, and when we were in primary school, he'd sometimes bring home the ends of rolls of paper - the drawings were quite big

I *finally* got back out into the garden, to work on going down the line of the new fence, the south-facing one, digging up/collecting weeds, and when I've done that I'll be making sure I can keep the soil away from the wood as much as possible.  Exhausted when I came in, but very excitingly I chopped up some potato and sweet potato, threw some tinned tomatoes over them, plus cashew nuts and frozen mushrooms, swooshed in water, stuck it in the oven and called it a casserole :) I got the portions wrong  too much for one, not enough leftover to do tomorrow for anything.  But it was very tasty :)
