Oh my word! Such a little island we live on, and such different experiences! I looked at the Met Office radar this morning, and Scotland looked like a Jackson Pollock, it was all over the place. I also found this site: https://www.lightningmaps.org/#m=oss;t=3;s=0;o=0;b=;ts=0;y=47.1;x=-1.9995;z=5;d=2;dl=2;dc=0; which is also amazing. I love thunder and lightning, but hours and hours of it like that, especially overnight, are awful - it gets tiring, for one thing, when you can't sleep - sympathies to all up there. I ended up feeling a little bit wobbly in the heat a few times, and I confess I heated up the water (for 15 minutes!) to have a shower - fine at the time, but the room was hot afterwards, couldn't get rid of the heat, pah. Slept fairly well because I had the electric fan on all night, four feet away from me. I need a few more summer clothes too, nice and light. Some definite rejigging involved.Hope everyone has a better day.

That's good, RT! Just checked on the Met Office, and I have a 30% chance of rain overnight for about 3 hours, then nothing till Friday daytime, with a 40% chance of rain for about 6 hours - and Friday should be down to about 23 degrees during the day, bliss! It's currently 24 degrees, that still counts as cool right now, so I'm off for a walk round teh block.2023: the year I get to buy a car5

The heavens opened here just after 10 last night with the most spectacular thunder & lightening and rain that went on for hours. The lightening just kept coming seconds apart and it didn't let up for hours. It knocked out my broadband so I gave up and watched the lightening in the dark for a bit then tried to sleep but kept getting woken up with huge rumbly thunder at random intervals. It apparently kept going all night. When I left the house to head to work at 8am the ground was wet as the storms were not long finished but it's been sunny ever since. It is up to a respectable 23C now according to BBC & there is a lovely, sunny blue sky.
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

It is still almost 28degs. This is the northern outskirts of greater Manchester for goodness sake. It is supposed to rain almost 24/7! Not so much as a breath of air. There has been very little sun either.

Wow ... I think a thunderstorm overnight is the most tiring thing of all ... hope its better tonight, taka. It's fascinating to know what everyone else is going through in real time - I love that. Today has been hot hot hot again - the chance of a thunderstorm suddenly appeared on the Met website at 4pm, but nothing came of it. I had a shower late on as usual, there was loads of hot water left from yesterday, when I put the hot water on for all of 15 minutes - I honestly think the sun helps warm up the hot water tank!Very proud of my newly clean bathroom, by the way
but I wish it would be cooler.
