Hiya! The visit was kind of high octane - bro. was desperate to work on my garden, chopping back the bay laurel, and also wanted to admire my kitchen, which we did
plus sister noticed the effects of the cleaning, which was very cool
Then we drove 4 hours each way to see the Norfolk rellies for fish and chips at Gorleston, which is their home from home, and after quite a bit of recovery time I've started to deal with the aftermath – a pile of laurel about twelve feet square, four feet high **faints** I mean, he's not far off 70 – how can he do that much? Lost in admiration!
I also got introduced to the modern world, ie out and about post-lockdown. Gulp. Scariest thing? Public toilets, sorry for the TMI.
But when they were both here, I managed to set up the living room so that we had Social Distancing and somewhere comfy to sit and put our drinks and our lunch. It felt barking mad, but it had to be done.
I'm still working on the laurel, but I'm also queuing up the tasks in other spheres, and I've somehow agreed to redesign the garden to make it better for an "older" person, more gulping there. Fencer still hasn't contacted me, so I'll give it a little while, but I might look for someone who does whole-garden things. We'll see. I want to catch up here first!

It sounds like you had a lovely time with your siblings! Agree completely about public toilets - although I’ve found that they are being cleaned more frequently, at least. Post-use and post-handwashing hand sanitiser is the way forward, I think.
It sounds like your brother has done a huge amount of work in the garden, well done him! I’m sure that’ll help you hugely. I don’t think 70 is what it used to be - my FIL is 70 and fitter than he’s ever been with his part time gardening job.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks both! Yep, he was amazing - he had a lot of physical jobs earlier in life, but for the last 20 years or so he was in my line of businessToday: well, carry on with the laurel, play with the garden design (I can't help it!) but also get the new computer up and going - I'm having trouble logging on, including the router going offline, which I *think* is being caused by the computer. Don't know, we'll see. Coffee and food first, though I got up so late2023: the year I get to buy a car5

He isn't, beanie, its 300 miles and he now needs to be on hand to help his DiL shop for her family (his eldest grandsons) and her parents, who are both very ill, plus getting the kids to school. He has a lot on his plate day to day, which is why we really wanted this to be a holiday for him.I have a new computer that should be fine - as long as the new router carries on working!2023: the year I get to buy a car5
