Today was definitely not a day for laying out in the garden... unless you are an amphibian...

I'm fairly sure we'll get another warm spell, but summer has gone, its true.Well, I didn't do even what I listed in my to-do paragraph, grrr, not even the washing machine (there wasn't quite enough, which I suppose is a good thing) so some of that stuff, I'll try to do today. The fencer has contacted me and already been round - I thought he was ghosting me, actually. But materials are hard to obtain - a full day each week is now spent sourcing stuff, and a lot of what's there isn't good enough - its been laying in a yard for two years or so, he said. Still, another month or so. So by the time he gets here and opens the side gate, he'll be able to see the fences that need mending and replacing!2023: the year I get to buy a car5

I went really mad a couple of days ago & finally had my fence done with upvc, expensive but fantastic. Totally maintenance free for a minimum of 20 years!

That sounds very swish! The fence in front will be a little picket fence type thing, the side gate and the renewed side fence a bit more substantial, and taller, for privacy's sake.More chopping up of brambles, a chat with the very dainty black and white cat who saunters into my garden every now and then, and a bit more of this **ridiculous** tidying - just little bits haven't been put away, that sort of thing, but when they pile up, the place looks horrendous.Amazing rainstorm, and amazing cloudscape - love it2023: the year I get to buy a car6

I did three spells out in the garden yesterday
so I did at least 1.5 hours, probably nearer two - but most of it was only chopping things up into a bucket so it could go in the ordinary waste (can't put fresh bramble into the compost bin, and can't leave it about to dry out for weeks, not enough space). Washing machine finally went on, but now of course the dw also needs to go on again, such is life.
Today ... good heavens, its a bank holiday! Grey, and breezy, but not currently rainy. I might actually try a quick walk, its still well before 10am, that could be good. Otherwise, its garden/ any of the indoor jobs (garden plan, cleaning, tidying, ooh, I could cook frugal brownies!).2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Not just cook frugal brownies, I hope. But also eat frugal brownies...

how very true! And I'm feeling very vindicated/smug right now, as I actually did go on that walk-before-10am - I walked to the local builder's merchant, in the direction of the Sainsbo, to look at the timber they have. I really want raised beds - if I wait till the general soil in my garden is good enough for cultivated seeds, or even pluglets, it'll be another 5 years or so. But I'm not interested in automatically buying pre-made stuff. The timber merchant will cut humongous great planks to size, and deliver. Once the side gate is done, the world is my oyster

Exciting! Lots of possibilities for the garden5

Ooh, that's very exciting! I do love a raised bed 😊4

It certainly is exciting! The website of the timber merchant has let me down a bit, though - the big planks I was thinking of are described in a way that's completely incomprehensible to me. I do know a couple of people who can translate it, so I'll have a go.Definitely autumnish here - I've got a proper warm layer on, disappointingly **sobs**In other news, though - I cut my hair last night, ha. Short trim to the fringe, and whacking great swings to the rest of it, maybe 3 inches! It's more even now, and easier to wash.Inspired by Cheery's planning for the last third of the year, I've been thinking of what I can do. Part of me meant to finish the finances during August, for example, but I haven't touched them - I've needed the break. But with "September" being the headline, I can do something again - bit of plotting and planning is called for.2023: the year I get to buy a car7
