Thanks folks - yep, I'm really looking forward to his visit.

RT - yes, looking forward but making sure I don't do so much I make myself ill.  Easy bits of cleaning in the bathroom and the porch, finally clearing the final bits of shopping, cooking some beans, getting ready to rehang a curtain that had come into contact with too much dirty shopping, cleaning a throw from the living room. 

I'm sitting still now, more or less, till it cools a bit - then I'll fill up the green bin, there's six inches or so left at the top and its due tomorrow.

Hope everyone's doing well, especially in this heat

Believe it or not, beanie, I envy you the rain!  It's now 9.15pm, and its 26 or 30 degrees, depending on whether you believe weather.com or the Met Office.  It's horrible!  I bought a garden hose earlier in the year, thinking I was going to grow veg, but I seriously want to put it together to save my perennials right now - everything is bone dry.

And my neighbour has bought the adult version of a paddling pool - like a hot tub, but cold

How exciting to have a visit from a helpful brother to look forward to 😎 .  I don't envy you the heat, I remember how unbearable it could be when I lived in Londinium.  It was quite warm earlier today but I'm now sitting with my cardie on and I've closed all the windows as its quite cool.

i spent about 20 mins sitting in a bath tub of cold water at 10pm. As soon as I lifted a limb from the water, it felt warm so I had to put it back in again... Slept with the window wide open and the curtains partially closed - v glad we don't live in mosquito-land as they'd have had a feast on me!

If I were you, karma, I'd put the hose together and just water myself!

I used my electric fan last night, and first thing this morning, to cool down, it was great.  Woke up really early because of the heat, and I was puttering about on my phone trying not to get up, saw that I had a £12 voucher from Sainsbo if I spent more than £80.  And a Saturday afternoon delivery was only £2.50, so hurray, I can buy a few bits and bobs for sibling visit, as well as stock up for later on in the year.  Nice saving, that.

Today is the cleaning of the bathroom.  I may well be using the shower cold water only, of course

...yesterday I had a frigid shower first thing & soaked my hair as well in an effort to stay cool...
...then suddenly remembered I had a video meeting at 11am that I had to look presentable at so would need to dry my hair...
... by the time I had a cup of coffee and put a brush through my hair it was completely dry!
