...Quite irritated though at cold calling resuming - an idiot with a hi-vis jacket and a mask tucked underneath his chin, with a tag on a lanyard....
...you are much to kind to even have opened the door...
On the very rare occasion that anyone knocks on our door (middle of nowhere remember)... I stick my head out an upstairs window and after finding out who they are and what they want, make it clear that I do not open doors to complete strangers or even legitimate tradespeople without an appointment. The chimney sweep is notorious for just showing up when he feels like it & every year I tell him no, he needs to make a appointment first & can do that through the property management (yes he's actually legit)... he absolutely detests me for this, but I don't actually 'know' him!
...the only two exceptions are firstly the boiler guy, who is a retired law enforcement officer & as we know him, in normal times we have him in for coffee & a chat anytime he is in the area - lol...
...secondly & very heart-warmingly is the the retired army officer who lives down the (long) country road and every year calls round for donations for remembrance poppies! He hikes up the hill using a walking stick, and tells me off for giving him £20 as a donation! - Just love him!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! I love you people so much! Thank you all
I don't fancy opening the upstairs windows (there's a lot living just outside, I'm afraid) but I could certainly bellow through the letterbox
or even talk through the front window. That might be the one. I'm not going to do it again, I was just too quick, thinking it might be a home delivery of some sort. .
I've started to check out Net Worth - coins and notes have been squirrelled all over a couple of rooms, tidying up after the last holiday didn't quite happen, with coming so shortly before lockdown. I'm on the way now, that at least will definitely get done before end July - the new accounts, not so sure, thats all right.Tried to contact bro, I'm pretty sure he's out digging a garden - he looks after two others, as well as his own. Not urgent. Did the backing up, that was good.2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Hazelnutty said:How do you get on Pinecone, Karma? It looks like you have to be invited?I think thats right, Hazelnutty - or at least, you have to wait until they open up for applications. I can't really remember, even though I haven't been on it that long
I'll check on the Boost Your Income board on here.
As far as the vampire is concerned - once I need to draw on my counselling skills to manage everyday conversation with someone, thats it - I'm out of the situation right away!

PineconeI went to their own website in the end, their FAQ says this:Presently, we do not recruit new members through our website or take unsolicited referrals. However, we will be posting recruitment opportunities through banner ads on various unsolicited websites from time to time throughout the year. If you see one of these ads, please feel free to sign up with us.Sorry, Hazelnutty, but at least you know. It takes a while to add up, but there's very little effort, so I'd apply if you see them. Very well paid per hour - maybe £6 per hour, at least, from home in front of your computer at a time of your own choosing? Bish bosh, as they say

Re cold callers, my mum’s had a couple recently too and it just beggars belief. DH and I were only saying yesterday that if we move to the sticks we’ll need a fancy Ring-style doorbell (not Ring as Amazon aren’t having my data!) so that I can assess who is there as it’sa solid wooden front door/I might be in the garden room/it’s that much quieter. Might be an option at some point for you?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Could be, madvix - and maybe sooner rather than later, my current one is dying, I think (or maybe I just need to change the batteriesNice long chat with sis this morning - bro is unavailable till Monday, he's working hard on expanding horizons for his grandchildren, renting a reliable car and taking the family out, bless 'im. Tidying has been the name of the game for me - found out how to Properly defluff the vac cleaner, I foresee dust masks and washing up gloves in my future when I do that again. Sod the virus, my dust allergy will explode if I do that againFirefox has updated itself, hooray, so I can type again - Net Worth is a little horrifying, in that the "savings accounts" are at 0.1%, or even 0.01%. Premium bonds are starting to look good! So is ratesetter come to that. Small account, of course, it pays 3%, but I'm credited with 1.5%, the rest goes to an increased Provisions Fund. I like that, so I'm going to keep my money in there. Thats a job off the list, ha!Carrying on with Net Worth listing for now, its too hot to go out to do anything. Though this morning I watched two pigeons get a bath in the impromptu bird bath outside my kitchen window, it was wonderful, even if they are pigeons2023: the year I get to buy a car5

1. Put mastercard onto automatic, go paperless2. Update my security document - in process.3. Check what savings accounts are active - in process.4. Standardise the details I have on them - in process.5. Shuffle money between savings accounts, add new ones.6. Buy some premium bonds.7. Check with bro on the probate bank account. This is good! But I wish the formatting was as easy as it used to be...2023: the year I get to buy a car3
