Thank you for keeping going at posting apple, as I say I'm very grateful
sorry your tech is messing you about.
The fair really is great, so many voluntary organisations, artisan producers, a little fair and a miniature railway at the edge for the kids, a few jumbles and lottos etc. Magic2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Soggier than last time - dear me, the spray from rain on the M25 is as bad as ever. But that was only during the travel home, the rest of the time the rain magically obeyed us, and only appeared when we were in a building or in a car :rotfl: thats true :rotfl:
We had a slight detour about halfway through the initial journey, ended up going to Cressing Temple Barns - OMG, wonderful complex, completely free, and just like every other place, staff and volunteers utterly lovely. http://www.visitparks.co.uk/places/cressing-temple-barns/ We only went there because we were being tailed kind of aggressively ... a very happy accident.
Another highlight was the Beth Chatto gardens https://www.bethchatto.co.uk/ The herbs for sale were kind of conventional, but the gardens are divine, absolutely divine, and looked after so beautifully.
Started benefitting from the NT membership too, Paycocke's House and Grange Barn, plus Sutton Hoo the next day, really magical, and we spent ages there
We gawped at two of the towns we saw: Woodbridge, and Harwich, both with amazing houses and streets from Tudor up to Edwardian, I can't describe how good they both felt.
Favourite animals: 3 sheep sheltering (from nothing at all) under a tree at Sutton Hoo, peered at us between branches from about five feet away, and a grey cat a few minutes later that stood up on its hind legs to be stroked  name of Smoky
Favourite factory: the Tiptree Jam Factory. How does Apricot and Armagnac sound as the flavour of a jam?:D:D
I've managed to unpack and do two loads of washing, plus the dw and some beans in soak for tomorrowI came back energised

splitting things up is crucial for me - though I think maybe I don't push myself quite enough
:o:o I seem to do a *lot* more on holiday :rotfl:

Sounds like you had a wonderful time Karma and got around quite a bit! I love Woodbridge too - such pretty streets. Have never visited Harwich - just assumed it was a port town, but will check it out next time we fancy an East Anglian coastal day (I mean, I fancy one every week, but we don't actually get to go there that often!).
Did you drive through Silver End when you went to Tiptree? It's a Art Deco model village and really unusual (and it's near Tiptree - although as both were seen on a random detour, they might not be quite as close to each other as I'm thinking).
Glad you've been energised by your break!
Been meaning to post to say I loved your environmental prepping blog post - would tie up nicely with Transition Towns I think.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I love tidal mills, they're so efficient and clever - and we were totally shocked that Harwich was so fantastic
:rotfl: you can see the container port across the river, but at Harwich itself, its all Tudor/ Edwardian as I said, plus the Napoleonic fort, RNLI, ancient pubs, and a man-powered crane.
There are also *two* sets of high-low lighthouses, which are incredibly special: mariners lined up the lights belonging to two lighthouses, and knew that they were on the right path from the harbour. This page is about Dovercourt, a couple of miles from Harwich, these are the replacement lights when the channel to the port shifted: http://www.worldwidelighthouses.com/Lighthouses/English-Lighthouses/Privately-Owned/Dovercourt-Low The Harwich Society has its own websiteDid you drive through Silver End when you went to Tiptree?
