Are there any booster foods you can eat to encourage that gland to behave itself? I don't want to get into the space of suggesting things because I have no idea what your condition is (guessing at some sort of impaired immune thing) - I know general advice is to boost with a fairly standard set of foods

Thanks SL - much appreciated. Eating extra well, as opposed to eating okay, is really important - I know that last year when I had ashwagandha over my porridge, it really helped. I haven't had it regularly this year, and I've had a dessertspoon of sugar instead of honey - that kind of thing adds up. Pulling it back again before it gets started up properly would be a good thing. Vitamin D supplements can't hurt either; I've noticed the tiredness gets a lot worse in spring, for a lot of years - maybe cfs/ SAD is partly vitamin D deficiency.
The next few weeks are all about looking after myself, so those things are where I'll start.
Thanks again :kisses3:
ETA just to remind myself that this stuff is real:

Terribly domestic day
Dishwasher, washing machine, some twigs in the green in and loose leaves packed into a binbag to decompose, plus tidying up in the kitchen/ getting rid of stuff/ taking it upstairs. I refuse to hurry it, because I might aggravate the tiredness, so I'm just doing what I can. I have a list of what I need to do this month, and what I'd like to do, and I'll start to pay attention to that tomorrow. Phone calls to bro and sister will come first, but I'm more or less just relaxing this evening.

I don't know much about the different types of ginseng but I found this article very interesting - who knew there were so many varieties!?
https://www.weknowginseng.com/types-of-ginseng/
I also read an answer from Janet McKenzie, BSN, MBA, ND (Naturopathic Doctor in Canada) that suggests the different qualities for taking different types. So interesting! https://www.quora.com/Which-is-better-Ashwagandha-or-Panax-ginseng

I was recommended it by a friend, SL, and it felt really helpful. Just had a look at that second link, and ashwagandha (calming) is definitely good for me, my system feels very hyper, so thats good to know. The first link, the ginseng article, is longer, I'll have a read of that and come back. Thanks SL, I appreciate it.
ETA - I skimmed the article in the endand I really do feel the ashwagandha is right for me, so the ginseng, not so much. I'm going to arrange my supplements now: I realise I still didn't use anything in the last 24 hours, in spite of this conversation

Argh, distracted and haven't paid attention to the supplements. But I have:
- tidied kitchen stuff upstairs.
- phoned sister
- sweeping floors.
- kitchen people phoned me, arranged a delivery date.
- I phoned another dept of kitchen people, new design appointment for additional bits and bobs
- SB clicks etc, and a new £5 voucher arrived.
- YG - I'm only 35 points from a £50 voucher
Today:
- cook the beans I soaked.
- sort the supplements I want to take.
- pay credit cards.
I'm sure there'll be a bit more tidying (I might get rid of my bleurgh sofa before the kitchen delivery!!!) but anything else is a bonus.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Okay, that worked well. I was dozy about doing what I said I'd do, so I've just done the credit cards now. One has a refund of kitchen stuff on, so that was good
Yesterday, I also got the long-handled snipper out, for a buddleia that was waving around, got that into the neighbour's green bin (yep, thats still going). Cleaned my handknitted sofa throw, to put away during the renovation. Plus I made a supermarket order, to be delivered today, for only 50p. I reckon that must be when parents with school age children *never* use it, and they're trying to at least occupy the drivers. Thats fine. Definitely stocking up on tins, as my kitchen will be out of order for so long. They've said they'll make sure my f/f is accessible to me, so frozen foods will be fine.
Today:
- bro will hopefully be around, give him a bell.
- I didn't sort the supplements properly, do that, DO THAT!
- jimmy the batteries into my cd player, and play a hemi sync tape I want.
- pay the French accountant, finally.
- yet more moving and tidying, as the delivery is due between 3 and 4 this afternoon. Might include shredding!
I need to email them about the level of their charges, they're *so* high - and I'm going to experiment with self declaration, an expat who runs an online community has a French tax software programme. I'll see if it gets me to the same figures as my actual accountant. Not today, but for the future.
It's all very bitty, but all necessary for the future.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Today, update:
- bro will hopefully be around, give him a bell.
No, I forgot I'd already arranged to ring him on Friday.
- I didn't sort the supplements properly, do that, DO THAT!
Did it, lined up properly, sorted what should be taken when. D, K, B, and calcium.
- jimmy the batteries into my cd player, and play a hemi sync tape I want.
Not yet, I needed to get out.
- pay the French accountant, finally.
Ditto.
- yet more moving and tidying, as the delivery is due between 3 and 4 this afternoon. Might include shredding!
Yes - emptied the oven:o:o of the stainless steel tins and racks I was storing there - it doesn't really work, which is why I bought the little halogen.
- supermarket delivery.
Arrived about 4 hours early, poor guy was totally overstretched by the timings they'd given him. Meant I've been able to get nearly everything cleaned and put away.
- garden.
I sawed down a couple more laurel branches:rotfl: including one where the cut was about 5' off the ground, and about 12' got cut. Felt good about that! Twiglets etc chopped up and in the green bin, branches left for my lovely neighbour to take if he wants them for his wood burner.
