The day has gone really well so far
- stuff in the wm has been out on the line for ages, pretty well dry, astonishing.
- put a half load on, a spring waterproof jacket, that was much later, not dry yet.
- good convo with sister, sorted out strategies for mad extended family.
- carried out the strategy, waiting to see what happens now.
- emailed niece in law, she's helping me with the printing for the French accountant, bless her.
- started to pack (including sending pdf ticket for the hydroponics farm to my kindle
- finished arrangements with my neighbour to look after my house.
- 3 buckets - three! - of weeds and stuff to the green bin.
- tidying up the fridgeI've made 3 attempts in the last few months to start cooking more fresh veg, as opposed to heating frozen veg, and failed spectacularly. My compost bin benefits, but it wasn't supposed to

Afternoon all! I've spent the whole morning doing fiddly bits, and its turned out to be really productive
emails, hanging a few things out on the line, bit of packing, all needs doing.
Nice bit of news from Scottish Power - they're putting my direct debit down by £5 a month. I've no idea where I am in terms of in credit or debitbut that's all going in the right direction. Again, there's that sense of catching up and clearing up, its very nice

Lucky you:T:beer:
We're with Scottish power and they've put my DD up by £4 a month since I submitted my last meter reading at the start of the month:(. That's with about 70% of our electrical sockets being out of action:eek:. I'm not risking overloading the remaining ones by using multi-socket extension cables etc (which would have meant the same amount of consumption as before) so as we're using less electricity now I'm baffled by the increase.

Good grief, CBC! I was going to say, I work quite hard at not using leccy, but obviously it's not just that, given your situation. Mind you, my house is quite small, as houses go - and its a semi in a town, not a detached in the countryside, which is always going to be more expensive to heat, other things being equal. Sorry about that!
Just done a SB survey, finished for the day on that other than 5 mins here and there going through lists of searches, that wins points too. A bit of packing, and a bit of plant care, is now called for, I think.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thank you:). We try not to waste electricity but in our situation we expect the bills will be fairly high. I've always been happy with Scottish Power who have always been very prompt to lower my DD whenever I'm in a reasonable amount of credit. They lowered it a few months ago before we started having so many electricity woes so the fact that it's increased now is very odd. I've always been on a fixed tariff so it can't be the increased cost of the electricity itself. I expect it will all balance itself out over time.0 -
Oh well, fair does, if they've lowered it at other times - odd, though! Perhaps the electricity woes have more (and worse) results than you were thinking
Packing went well this afternoon, but erg, I felt *so* tired with the sleepless nights, so no gardening. Took a 30 minute walk to get out in the fresh air (local agricultural college had a farrowing pig who was eating the bark off the trees!) and then, frankly, I went to bedOnly about an hour, but I really needed it. Must do better tonight.

Hope you get a better sleep tonight - makes such a big difference0

I hope you managed a better night's sleep,KC:)
You know when people say ''it's too cold for snow''? I remember someone saying she was ''too tired to sleep''. Seems odd but it also kinda makes sense.
I'm not around much on MSE at the moment, dratted RL getting in the way of what I enjoy doing:mad:, so I may have missed when you said you were off to do your cat sitting. I don't want to miss wishing you Bon Voyage:beer: and a really happy and relaxing time away from all that gardening. I may be being days premature though:rotfl:0
