Morning! I'm glad *some* alternatives have been found for the UFM. Cheery, I think you're right about my being put in the "start the emails straight away" box, heaven only knows why :rotfl: As long as we all get them, thats what matters. Maybe mine will stop earlier!

I was *really* tired yesterday, and had a long-for-me sleep, but still tired and quite grumpy :o I think I overdid it a bit yesterday, the laurel was really intense. I haven't moved off the armchair yet, and the only reason I'm going to move right now, is to put the dishwasher on and come back and finish looking at mse :)

KC - I'm with you on the grumpy & sleepy feelings - am still in PJ's on the sofa under a duvet - could not face doing anything today as it is still soooooooooooo grey out! - I did however make us some old-fashioned oatmeal on the stove - 40 bloomin' minutes & lots of intermitent stiring - no wonder it's been sitting on the shelf in the cupboard forever!:D:D:D

Right, the dishwasher's on, I'm going to have another cup of tea while the upstairs heats up a little bit, and then I'll potter about for half an hour or so tidying, and maybe scanning at the same time. This is the trouble with feeling low in energy - you can't do absolutely nothing, eg watching tv, all day - that feels bad, and makes me ache anyway. But you can't do very much either, and you certainly can't do things at the normal rate. Very frustrating, but it is what it is. Thank heavens for dishwashers and frozen food!

CBC - a good store cupboard challenge always give me a sense of accomplishment - amazing how many meals can be put together from various canned, dried & frozen goodies!

Yes, I'm looking forward to it:j

The only problem is that come February 1st the cupboards will be bare so money will have to be spent then replenishing them:(. Living in a fairly isolated rural backwater I don't want a repeat of last winter's Beast from the East without anything to eat in the house:eek:. I like to be prepared for every eventuality especially foodwise. OH and I could both eat for England. We had enough in to survive comfortably that time although we ate some strange concoctions some days.

Thanks Ella - bit of a setback, actually. When I finally drew the curtains :o found that my front gate was off its hinges and resting on the brick gatepost :( there's been vandalism to the four gateposts over this last year, but I don't think this is part of it now - I think there's been water damage and rusting thats just worn it through :(

I was going to pull the gate through the house so I could store it safely at the back, but its *so* heavy, I just dragged it up the side of the house to the non-opening garden gate :( I think repairing and replacing the fencing all round the perimeter has got to come before the kitchen :(

Well that isn't good! Have you looked at UPVC.? More expensive but last a lot longer with less maintenance.

Although from my point of view it may lead to yet more interesting thoughts on kitchen design. Such as - what is the point of having the sink under the window so you can look out when you wash up when you always use a dishwasher?

For garden fencing, I don't think I could, purely on an ecological basis :( sorry.

Oh thats very interesting :j thank you! Do I stand at the sink more than I stand at my working surface? I don't know! Wow!
