Yup cbc, no problem, I love being able to contribute to a thread with some story of a barmy incident that people can relate to/chuckle at.
I also agree with the basic goodness and helpfulness of the vast majority of us hoomans. I try to be that therefore am puzzled when I come across people that in my opinion are nutters. I certainly try not to let it bother, me hence my ongoing irritation at being irritated by seeing the parcel when I had been trying to do a Nice Thing.22: 3🏅 4⭐ 23: 5🏅 6 ⭐ 24 1🏅 2⭐ 25 🏅 🥈 Never save something for a special occasion. Hi Karmacat - just enjoyed reading through your diary.
You mentioned the SB apps, and long videos about Yoga on the sport one? On each of the apps, if you go into the menu, on the drop down you should get a 'short clips' option. If you chose that then the videos are mainly 20 seconds or so long of 'comedy' so its much faster to tun through to get the SB. Hope this helps. The same awful short clips are on each app, so I run it with sound off. You can also skip to the next video once you get past 30 seconds if they are any longer and it still credits. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Hello redofrom start :hello: thank you for that!
I've read about the favourites thingin my case, it would be especially important to do, because frankly my phone doesn't seem to like my wifi connection sometimes, and the mobile allowance isn't big enough to play all those apps ... but getting shorter videos listed in the faves would help considerably, absolutely. Must get my act together on that, I'll report back on here when I've done that. Thank you!
I'm off out in a bit - there's a couple of villages I want to explore, one of which is my chosen location for my apocalyptic novel, and one is near to a National Trust property, and I've never been to the village itself. Suitably low intensity for me, but still pleasant, and not too many threatening flu germs

Sounds a lovely way to spend a Saturday. Enjoy:beer:
Your plan to write an apocalyptic novel sounds wonderful:T. I have to admit that it's not one of my favourite genres but I keep promising myself that I'll broaden my reading experiences;). Maybe this year, eh?
Did you start with the idea for the story or was it the location that triggered things off? I'm intrigued about how authors become inspired to write a particular book. I once saw a fascinating TV programme where the crime writer P D James was walking along Chesil Beach and being interviewed by, I think, Melvyn Bragg, She was very 'big' on a 'sense of place' before embarking on each book.
I know it sounds trite and every man and his dog seems to say that they'd love to write a novel but I really would like to do it. I've had the idea for it buzzing round in my brain for years. In typical CBC fashion (Procrastination R Us:o) I've never made a start on actually writing it. I've done lots of research (it's loosely based on the true story of someone I knew who was murdered in very bizarre circumstances:eek:) and now all I need to do is dive in and get on with it.
Sadly, I must have some Disorder that stops me doing things unless everything is completely ready and perfect before I start something. Well, that's my excuse anyway. It must because I can't bear the thought of failing in important things although heaven knows I've had plenty of experience in failure with money and other areas of my life:o1 -

I went to the apoca-one: it's very lush, very rich, and being there always gives me new ideas for the reality of what might happen there in hard times.

The brother of a great-great-grandmother of mine died on the Titanic - I thought I was fine with it, but I happened to catch the Leonardo DiCaprio / Kate Winslet film, and I couldn't watch it, I couldn't bear it

I hope you don't have a disorder :kisses3: but what you do need to have (what *I* need to have) is time, over and over again, to write, to re-order and edit, write again, learn how to get the thing onto kindle. You can do it, but whether you have time to do it (as I did once, but don't know if I have again) - only you can tell.
Want to make a diary date for publication? I will if you will, seriously.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hope you've had a lovely exploring/creative day. I love a NT property but haven't been for ages. Thanks for the reminder xxOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.

Awww! Thank you both! I'm just writing up the notes now - I favour the slow collapse - like, I've been imagining central government funding for local authorities completely withdrawn, and what services we think of as esential might stop altogether. Plus, if you have a 45 minute commute to work in London, as so many people do, what might be the challenges of that, between terrorism, infrastructure collapsing, little proxy fights breaking out, arson, mental health services withdrawn? I don't need to deal with the complexities, but the effects on my commuter will be ... grim2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Well, if you're favouring the slow collapse, there's a couple of templates to look at. Argentina reasonably recently - Ferfal has written quite a bit on that. There's also the current ongoing annihilation of Venezuela. But with that "Socialist Paradise" has been quite a bit of "news suppression", so I'm not aware of anyone bringing the news (in english) out on a regular basis.
There are a number of stories, but you will have hunt and take quite a bit of salt.
And don't forget the bunnies..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -
