Hello lovely peeps, I'm back :hello::hello::hello:
We had a brilliant time, they had plenty of food that was eatable for a vegetarian with cow dairy and gluten intolerance  the captain was a cheeky chappieand the trips were amazing - I thought we were sure to see everything of importance in Norway in one visit
:o:o but I was wrong, I know - not least because our itinerary had to change by about 30% because of Storm Hector, which was chasing us after it finished in the UK
So there were a *few* problems :rotfl::
- aforementioned itinerary change - we only just got to the Arctic Circle, had to run back down south or we'd have been trapped for days in 10 metre high waves.
- two storms where the waves were 3 metres high, thats quite high enough, thank you - quite a bit of sliding and bouncing going on at night
- the whole ship ran out of water.
- then 3 days later there was a burst pipe, and not only did the ship run out of water, it was a bit flooded, and then it happened again because people left their taps open - when the water returned ... you know the rest!
- our first day excursion nearly missed the ship, there was a planned explosion at a granite quarry, and some of the unplanned rubble blocked the road for a while.
- we changed course on the last full day at sea to return to Norway for a medical evacuation by helicopter to Stavanger.
- the captain actually referred to something interpersonal going on behind the scenes - the staff were utterly amazing, though we all spotted some really stressy times for them, nothing to do with passengers. 2,500 people in total, thats gonna happen
I'd go again in a heartbeatI could get used to that :j
In the meantime, £6 saved on a Sainsbo order to be delivered tomorrow, I've used some Amazon vouchers on Game of Thrones  and my dishwasher has been fixed by the boss (the plumber who didn't do it has been fired ) but its electrics are unhappy - I may need to bite the bullet and get a new one, hey ho. Eight years seems pretty good these days **faints**2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hey Karma, you're back! (Just seen you've popped into mine) Glad you had an amazing time, although it sounds like it was fairly eventful!
That's really good that they had plenty of food for you - very impressive

Good to see you back. Fascinating trip - on my list of places to go. I've been to Iceland and that was really different but I think Norway is dramatically different, Glad you had a good time, in spite of the mishapsSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Gosh, what an eventful trip! so pleased you still had a good time despite all that :j :j0

Thanks all - it was truly amazing. To be sitting in a cafe like on the Med, and see snow capped mountains so near, wonderful stuff. I'll set up a Flickr page on my account over there, and link to it from here
I'm rubbish at getting pictures onto mse
I went to the head of a glacier. I had my photo taken with the captain of the ship. I practised making a dog out of the towels in the bathroom (our steward learned it from a book). I collected sand made from basalt and granite dust for my sister's sand collection. I bought a wooden butter knife with a cat engraved on it in pokerwork (the only cat in Norway, as far as I can make out!).
Bit more unpacking to do, and lots and lots of weeding **faints again**.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
