Hello, I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise. I love your photos, some stunning scenery.

Sounds like it was one of those eventful cruises, they do happen from time to time. Regarding the water, you only need to worry if its coming UP the stairs!

They were the brand you're suggesting, thats right - I could tell they were really comfortable apart from this one bit where maybe another quarter of an inch of leather was necessary. And a beautiful design too. But they were agony :(

Yes, I think eventful is the word :rotfl: I think if I'd seen water coming up the stairs, I'd have been, um, gobsmackingly panicked, I think is the accurate phrase :rotfl: Seeing it outside our cabin that was 30 feet above the sea level was a little startling, thats all, though I wasn't all that chipper about it leaking through, which it did for a few hours ... the steward mopped it up :D

I've just been tidying up the photos on my computer to show my brother next week, did some garden navvying before it got too hot, and I've also started the next set of family photo scanning. On the photos, at least, I'm 80% of the way through - not going to not finish it off now! And it helps me hide from the heat - though I might need a bit of a walk now.

ETA - also written a blogpost, squeaked in to a June datestamp!

It just occurred to me, writing on downshifterella's thread, that here we are, at exactly the start of the second half of the year! So a little bit of a review is in order.

Unfortunately, I can't include finances in it :rotfl: the final total payment for the cruise is a bit up in the air because of the cancellations and rebookings with the day trips, because of the re-routing, plus tiredness.

Still, finances are probably okay, as thats the only expenditure I've had:
    - Regular Savers finished while I was away - time to rejig them, and also now time to move my bank account, as I loathe hsbc passionately :)

    - I'm going to sell my Santander shares - too much fuss for too little return, even though I know how to declare them on hmrc form nowadays.
    - I'm using savings, still left my pension money where it is - I need some concentrated time to make decisions about that - frankly, I'm lucky the market has't collapsed. But it hasn't, and I'll deal.
    - I'm working on SB to buy my hot turner compost bin :D got £35 in there, you can deposit £25 and get an extra £5 :D only need another £20 or so, which is brilliant.
    - I'm going to start paying for private dental hygiene appointments - the NHS service has downgraded and downgraded, round here anyway, it's not a tenth of what it was. Money's worth it.

    Lifestyle:
    - well, June was good :j I had the cruise, and in this last week, I had 3 social engagements :j until I catch up on the practical stuff a bit more, thats fine. Then I'd like to up it to four.
    - the more varied food I ate on the cruise was great, I definitely want to build on that - so two new things a month. I'm starting from a really low threshold, so that includes things like dressings/sauces, which actually take about ten minutes to make.
    - exercise. Carrying on gardening, and walking; I also want to start some core exercises - stomach and back - those are really going to help me. Not a huge amount of time either - ten minutes or so a day? I'd like to improve my stamina, which was horrendous on the cruise, but thats optional in these plans, depends how the first set of exercises go.
    - I've just been talking on OldStyle about using my hemi-sync CDs - that needs very little extra time, just charging a couple of AA batteries and popping a cd into my portable cd player, so I can listen while gardening or walking or something. Should be doable - but I've had those CDs a long time :o
    - planning! I'm not good at social planning - I'm okay, but not great. Will try to get better, though thats a bit woolly, but I need it to be in here as a "notice of intent" :p

  • Well done on the planning KC! Great to have some manageable ones in there too! ( Like the new food idea ...I'm very unadventurous ( read "lazy"! ;)) So could do with adopting that one myself!

Fantastic pictures from Norway, looks stunning makes me want to go on hols!!

Hmmm, the first test. The healthy walk arranged by the council is at 10am today, as it is every Monday. Its another cloudless day, a *hot* day. I swore to myself I'd be doing it every week, but it means almost an hour in the sun, and I *so* don't want to do that. There's a pleasant breeze, but ... no. I'm not going to choose to do that, it's too much time outside, incapacitating for the rest of the day.

    Okay, so I need to:
    - sort the post.
    - pack for trip tomorrow.
    - wash dishes
    - navvying in the garden
    - posting some forms I printed out yesterday - the local horticultural society has a trip to Chelsea Physic Garden later this month, I **want** that trip :):):)
