Definitely agree not to spend too long in the heat today - likewise, I hope it's very gentle navvying in the garden!

If you're looking for a dressing, I can totally recommend the miso, citrus and tahini one from Greying's diary.... the original recipe is . I've made it twice now and am a bit in love with it! Also works as a marinade and on stir fry....mmm.... (and is dead simple!)

Thanks both! I retreat instinctively from regular stuff like this, but this is a bit different - I *need* today, for all sorts of admin work.

Oh! I bought Deliciously Ella when it was on offer on kindle, and I've been looking on there, but that one sounds very interesting, I'll take a look.

As far as my list goes, I've done the dishes. This is heroism on an epic scale :D

Good choice to stay out of the sun KC! Sun is wonderful for lifting away any blue funk, but always best to stay out of it when it's so very blistering hot! I'd always pick admin & paperwork over anything else - ;) - is that weird???

I've been in and out of the sunshine since 6:30 this morning & am now shattered! Decanted the contents of the kitchen to the front lawn...:o

Woke to a bit of a flood this morning in the kitchen:mad: - 2 inches - have been bailing and drying out ever since - turns out that our dishwasher intake hose perished in this heat! - it was slightly overstretched to begin with but no problems for 3 years meant we'd not even thought about it again!;):D:eek::eek:

New one on order - it will be here tomorrow - it's a low job - OH only does high jobs - :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - no wonder I never bother with a manicure!!!

RT! Thanks for the confirmation, good to hear. Waaaah! to floods, sorry thats happened :(

Are you moving? Or are you decanting because of the flooding?

I was outside for ten mins to collect some weeds to dry out, and I'm so glad I didn't go on that walk - way, way too hot. So I've hidden in the living room, and I'm scanning more photos, I have one more old style Christmas biscuit box to do :) some of them are really great :)

I'm staying out of the heat too. Took my students to a shopping centre today because it's too hot to traipse around outside!

Nope - not moving yet - did a cost analysis on running costs of the 300 year old property we fell in love with & decided it was too ouchy on our wallets! For now we are counting our blessings and staying put!:D There is always the option of a new build in 'that' great location should we finally throw in the towel here!

    ...and talking about towels...

My freshly washed & dried load got used for flood relief yesterday! - So will have to redo that load!:rotfl:

The decant was purely to facilitate mopping, squeegeeing, dehumidifying & loss analysis from the flood! It was brilliant & sunny & hot hot hot which helped dry us out - almost there now but might have to buy a replacement drawer as one is so water-logged it has warped!

Only lost a box of baking soda - not yet opened & some cocktail sticks - the rest was undamaged or dried out quickly! Dehumidifier has been emptied 3 times since yesterday though, so I'm sure there is still water under the laminate!:o:o:o

The replacement dishwasher hose arrives between 2 & 3 - do I wait until it arrives or do the dishes by hand??? Decisions, decisions :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi there! Hope your dishwasher woes are at an end, RT :) having survived a visit to my mum's house, where there *is* no dishwasher - I'm still firmly in favour of said gizmo :D

I'm also in favour of sheepskin rollers to put paint on. Never been a fan, but I must have used something cheap in the past, as I remember getting spattered continuously - but the coverage and the speed of this thing was brilliant, so three of the old-fashioned orange pine chests of drawers were painted. I also got paint off windows with a razor, cut back brambles (that was awfully familiar :rotfl:) and weeded like billy-o. There may also have been some more clearing of paperwork and some floor-sweeping.

A WWII Hurricane flew directly overhead one evening, circling around to perform at a local airshow, that was wonderful.

Back now (obvs) and its much hotter here :(

PS - oh yes, the Terracotta Warriors! Wonderful, and the associated artefacts were wonderful too, though people were a bit frantic, sadly. It makes me think how fantastic the actual site in China would be :j:j:j

Morning! Lot of admin yesterday, and more to do today:
    - distributing photos online
    - washing done.
    - French maintenance bill paid.
    - my contribution for house maintenance up on Merseyside paid.
    - general finances in England and France checked (not net worth, yet!).
    - popped to Waitrose - 3 bananas for 13p! I'm definitely going shopping there near Sunday closing time again :)
    - unpacked and case is put away.
    - paid my ISP for the blog, that was due last month :o
    - emailed freeholder for my mum's house about purchasing the freehold (archaic, not modern viciousness, its £8 per year, but to sell the place, it will be simpler to have a house as freehold!).

    To do today:
    - lot of juggling about dates in the next few weeks, more DIY on Merseyside/ garden trip with local horticultural society/ meeting up with my ex-colleague/ U3A lecture on one of my favourite topics/ games afternoon date.
    - Council's healthy walk (in about 20 minutes :D)
    - open the post
    - buy a bleeping dishwasher!
    - plant some herbs, let the poor things grow some roots.

Oh, RT asked about scanning - I have an old biscui tin of photos still to do - I've done three similar ones. Hoping to finish in the next fortnight, before the next trip to Merseyside.

On admin days, I'm trying to do things as quickly as possible, so it all takes as little *time* as possible, and I have more time for fun
