I usually give them my readings on the 24th.

They seem to send me reading reminders about 3 to 4 days before that, but if I give them a reading on the day the reminder e-mail arrives they tend to still use an estimate for the remaining couple of days of the billing month, whereas if I give a reading early morning on the 24th - the statement date, they use my reading and don'r insert an estimate.

I’ve taken to just doing daily reads once they email me now as the day they generate my bill seems almost random / manual, frustrating but solves the issue.

Yes, I feel they manually upload their statements, however, like most people on here, I give readings on 19 and 24 (the day my billing period ends) and they have always used my readings. The only time they have failed is when I forgot to give my readings.

I will add that when they have estimated my usage, their estimate has been fairly accurate, although I feel that this is because I also give weekly readings.

Be careful with them. I'm on their "variable" tariff. I noticed that the variable tariff for April was lower than mine. At first they tried to say that mine was the same as the lower rate - apparently that was the rate minus VAT. However I checked their website and it stated the prices with VAT.
They've said they'll put me on the lower tariff. I was of the understanding that a variable tariff would go up or down automatically?

Yeah you’re right with the up down part. But my understanding is that if your tariff in the previous month is 14.5p kWh and the wholesale price say increases by 10% your tariff rate would become 15.95p kWh in the following month....at the same time a tariff released months before would also increase by 10% and could be a lower price than your tariff. Think of it as a starting point and the variable is a blanket % on previous month.

Not sure on the VAT part.

Thanks for highlighting that Utility Point have launched a cheaper variable tariff - have emailed them to change our tariff.

You need to consider that any energy company can have multiple variable rate tariffs. There isn't a limit to these.
They may also have one 1 standard variable tariff which is subject to the Government cap limit and used as a default tariff.

Utility Point's Term and Conditions explicit use the phrase "Variable Plans" so they aren't limiting themselves to a single variable tariff!

Switched to Utility Point not too long ago (because of the free £25 credit to be honest) and the fact they were showing as the cheapest in my area for gas.

Signup and switch over process has been extremely smooth. I had a few questions for them and they responded within the day by e-mail.

    Happy so far.

Just joined them and so far no issues. However no sign of my £25.00 referral credit. However not sure how long it takes to show my account.

Just noticed that Utility Point have brought our a new tariff with a lower per unit charge (for Gas at least).

I believe you will receive your £25.00 credit on your first bill.
