    Happy Friday everyone :j:j:j

A beautiful morning here in Dorset and it looks like we are set for a lovely weekend

Welcome klew356 :hello: - you have come to right place for advice and tips on 'fabbing' - the ladies on here are a mine of information :)

Thanks for the MSE fabbing tips Moll :money: I do get quite hard skin on my heels and have been creaming them regularly which has helped but I am willing to give them lemons a go ;). Your meet-up lunch with friends sounds like fun - as they say 'the more the merrier'.

Glad you like your new haircut misstara - you always feel so much better with a good style - are you finding it OK to look after now it is shorter?

Sugar - I am sure that Wayne appreciated your apology although from what you have told us about him I can see how he could make you frustrated enough to make you shout at him . You are very wise to teach you Son about cooking, cleaning etc. before he goes to University so many young adults go off without a clue as to how to look after themselves.

LL - sounds like things are coming together well for the move :)

Nice to see you back Luxurywoman - sorry to hear that life is so stressful at the moment. Sounds like you really need your holiday and I am loving the colours for your capsule wardrobe.

Have a lovely weekend all

    Good morning lovely ladies.......

A beautiful day here, have already been to the dentist for a scale and polish. I really hate that. Still it's done now, eye test yesterday. I just need to try and get my hair cut now. Hopefully next week.

Welcome Klew 356. Yes we will help and support you. You will get lots of encouragement.

My advice?? Start with grooming. Always aim to look and be the best you can be. Don't wait until you have reached your goal weight start now.

My motto......Dress Up and Show Up.

You never know when you might bump into MR Right. right?. You will want to be ready......so dress to impress. Although I would say whether you are looking for a boyfriend or not, you should do it anyway.

    Do It For You. Always.

You just need to love yourself as you are, take care of your skin, hair, nails and especially your teeth:rotfl: make sure your clothes are freshly laundered and neatly pressed, your shoes polished etc. Once you establish a routine it becomes second nature.

Don't worry too much about "dieting"..... You need to think long term so eat in a way that's sustainable. Eat good healthy nutritious food. Eat for health and energy. But add a little a twist. Make sure it's always delicious and is beautifully presented. Even a simple snack can be turned into a feast for the eye. If your plate looks pretty and tempting you will feel that you have eaten well, will feel more satisfied and be less inclined to nibble between meals. If you do need extra nibbles then make them healthy, nuts, seeds, fruit.

Learn to live mindfully, to relax and destress. Indulge in the things that give you pleasure, a stroll in the sunshine. A tip for your poorly leg .....I have a dodgy knee so sometimes I wear a knee brace if I want to walk. It helps. And no one sees it under trousers. I also swear by tiger balm. I get through tons of the stuff.

Do things to make you feel good. Go for a cup of coffee in a nice cafe, a mooch round the charity shops, a trip to a gallery or cinema, curl up with a good book or a nice magazine, treat yourself to some flowers. All these things are low cost and will contribute to your sense of joy and wellbeing,

Oh and my two golden rules.........always wear perfume and always watch your posture.

Always smell divine and always move with grace and poise.

Good posture will make you look taller and slimmer, and is far kinder to your body than slouching.

Today I was driving and stuck in traffic..... a perfect opportunity to people watch all the passers by. I was struck by a lady who was probably around my age. She looked nice. Simply dressed in jeans and a white top, her hair was nice. But oh dear she was badly slouched with the beginnings of quite a pronounced widows hump.

Ladies this is something we all need to avoid......have you ever seen those poor old ladies who cannot straighten their necks or raise their heads.....we have to avoid this if we possibly can.....so straighten up, and don't slouch.

I sound just like my old gym teacher. :rotfl:

Actually I saw her a couple of years ago....she must have been in her mid 80s at least. Still lean and straight, still spry and walking briskly. :D

Right time for brunch, then a bit of gardening.

SUgarbaby.....you are so wise to teach your son such valuable life skills before he leaves for uni. He will thank you for it. My boys often comment about how their peers struggle at times - even now when they are in their 30s. Their friends often lament that their parents never passed on their knowledge and skills.

Moll....great tips there. I would add you can also use lemon halves for rough dry elbows too.

Looks like we are in for a nice weekend.

    Enjoy. X

Thanks ladies, will give it all a shot x
  • Hi everyone and welcome to all the newbies, this is a lovely thread to read and contribute to :)

I haven't posted for ages; keep meaning to but life gets in the way - I worked out that out of 5 1/2 months in this year so far, I've spent 3 1/2 of them ill! The virus I had from Jan 1st - mid March really wiped me out and even now if I don't take my vitamins & iron tablets I feel much worse for it. Since then there's also been a couple of tummy bugs (unavoidable with small children around, I think!) but apart from that I'm on the mend, there's only a few days now where I have to take painkillers to get going in the morning.

I do enjoy keeping up with everyone's news, how exciting about your new house LL! You must be very much looking forward to getting in there and putting your own stamp on the place. I've been doing some serious tidying and decluttering, the loft is now much more organised, plus all the kitchen cupboards have been sorted through. Plenty has gone to the charity shops/ Freegle/ recycling but I'm sure there's still more I could do.....

Sugarbaby, as always I am in awe of your free/ very cheap trips out! :money: and good on you for teaching your son the skills he needs for life at uni (good luck to him for his exams, by the way!). I was at uni with a guy who couldn't cook and took all his washing home every other weekend for his mum to do rather than learn how to do it on campus

How are you getting on Tete? Are you following SW again or trying something new? I joined WW a couple of months back but have been a dismal failure so far :(

Speaking of weight, my DP made a big effort to lose weight a couple of months ago. He's already obese (21 stone) and although he's a big bloke, obviously he needs to lose a lot of weight. He was warned that he's pre-diabetic and advised to avoid carbs; well, he did for a bit (of course I had to do all the meal planning and shopping for it, but he did it!) but now he's at the point of low carbing Monday - Friday for his meals but snacking on bread, plus is back to drinking more alcohol than he should. I know he's put back all the weight he lost and isn't happy about it but firstly he starts sniping at me if I mention it, and secondly what can I do, all his meals follow the diet plan but I can't stop his 'extras'!

DS1 is having a hearing test shortly as his speech is still very poor (my twin boys will be 3 in October). DS2 is average for his age and is putting sentences together, more every day, but DS1 seems to have problems somewhere - for example, he can't distinguish between the words 'bed' and 'bird'. He knows what they are but can't hear/ say them differently..... hopefully we will get some answers at his test, as it's starting to frustrate him and he's resorting to scratching to get attention.

Hope everyone is well and working towards their own goals. Mine was 'confidence' but I don't think I've got there yet!!

PS has anyone heard from indiepanda? Haven't seen any posts for ages.....
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

ruby good to read your posts again. From what youve posted, it looks like you have lots on your plate at the moment. My tip for your word !!!8216;confidence!!!8217; is to focus on something you are already good at and makes you feel good. Spend time thinking about why it makes you feel good and apply that to other areas of your life. Start small and build up from there.

Lessons thanks for the reminders of fabbing. For anyone in doubt, it!!!8217;s true. I had to go into work on my day off and two people complimented me on my appearance. I was wearing no make up and casual. The thing that probably made me look different was stress, or lack off it. I am always in a rush during the week and on this day, I wasnt and it must have shown.

Sugar when I was at Uni, there were loads of 18 year old makes I lived with who didnt know who to cook or clean. Needless to say, they were the ones who struggled the most. You are doing the right thing by giving your son those life skills.

My last week at work is next week. I will be glad to leave, but I am nervous and excited about my new role. On a more positive front, I managed to make some savings on my new work wardrobe, which means I have come in under budget. One such bargain was on a pair of shoes. I had budgeted £50, but I found a pair on eBay for £30, plus eBay sent me a £10 off voucher, so I paid £20. Last week, I got my teeth cleaned at the dentists and I have a hairdressers appointment booked in, so I should look good for my new job.

I want to have a nice enjoyable week before I start my new job, but I have lots of errands to run so I am trying to do as much as I can this week. Its stuff like getting new watch batteries, taking clothes to be altered, picking up DS prescription sunglasses. Small stuff, but all over the place.

I hope everyone is prepared for the heatwave next week.

    Hello Lovely Ladies.

Ruby...how lovely to hear from you. I was wondering where you were. (And Indie too, hope she's ok). I'm sorry to hear you were so poorly. Hope you make a full recovery, lots of TLC (when you have time) and keep up the vitamins etc. Sounds like your immune system took a real hammering.

How old are your babies now. I bet they are right little scamps.

Chanie......sounds like you are all sorted for your new job.....how exciting. Good that you having a little break in between, even if you will be running about getting stuff done.

Yes it looks like we are in for some seriously hot weather next week. I haven't got much planned so I shall just potter about and enjoy.....or maybe not. I might be busy.......

Tonight I'm on tenterhooks......DIL popped into the hospital today, because she felt "odd". The baby's head is engaged and they monitored her for a while and it appears that there is some evidence of mild contraction activity. They sent her home but it's beginning to Look like my grandson is gearing up......:rotfl:

I shall take my mobile phone to bed tonight. :D.

    Hello Ladies,

I went to see Gina Yashere at The Under Belly Festival on Friday evening. I laughed throughout the whole 1 hour and 20 minutes so much, that my stomach muscles really felt it and so did my face, as I cried tears of laughter so many times. :T She went over by 20 minutes. :j She is brilliant at the observational comedy that she does on real life events in her life. :D

My 2 daughters went to see her on Saturday evening. My older daughter bought the tickets as a late birthday treat for her sister. They both loved it. :D

Ruby it is so good to hear from you again. :) If it turns out that your DS1 has normal hearing, then he will most probably need speech therapy. If that is the case, try to ensure he receives it as soon as possible. I am sorry that your partner is being a pain about losing weight even though you are trying to be really supportive. :( You should not have to be responsible for his health, but he is intent on sabotaging himself, so all you can do is treat him like a recalcitrant child and do everything from giving him smaller portions and putting as much healthy snacks in the home as your family can afford and simply buy a lot less bread for the family.

    LL
how exciting about your daughter in law. You will be a grandmother soon. Happy days are imminent. :D

On the packing and house moving front, take each day as it comes and remember that there is no one standing over you urging you to go faster, pace yourself. ;)

Chanie your future looks so bright. I hope you soon settle into your new job and enjoy wearing your new work wardrobe. It will certainly give you confidence to be well groomed in your new job. :D

I am going to Karaoke this evening. Looking forward to seeing Wayne there as well.

Wayne and I continue to talk and are trying to move forward with resolving any issues that caused the relationship to break down in the past. He is finally realising that I value punctuality, honesty and trustworthiness far more than him buying me gifts or giving me money. :D
  • Sugarbaby - Looked up Gina yashere on YouTube and recognise her from live at the Apollo. She is really funny. I try to go to comedy nights at my local theatre now and again. I think laughter is a good way to make us feel fab...

    Definitely.....I love a good laugh.

Just a quickie.....false alarm with DIL. Just a few gentle contractions but nothing really Happening yet. He's not technically due till next week but yes we are getting excited now. He's definitely thinking about it.

He'll probably come when we are trying to watch England.....:rotfl:

Ruby...forgot to say my youngest son needed speech therapy. His hearing was fine but for some reason he too was slow to talk. Agree with SUgarbaby. Try to get the help you need as quickly as possible.

SUgarbaby.....good luck with Wayne. I have to say I admire your patience.... :D

Glorious day here. Another scorcher. Enjoy.

Tbh I am just pottering about, mainly staying in the shade. The sun is a bit fierce for me. I got up at the crack of dawn and went shopping before it got too hot.

Ruby my DS2 didn't really talk much until his 2y older brother went to nursery, because DS1 said everything for him :p
