Lessons A renovation blog sounds like a good idea. I think you should call your new new place The Shire, but then I will always come up with the wacky names.
Cant wait to hear about the arrival of your GS. My son also has Robert as a middle name, after his grandad (RIP).

We have just come back from a night away, courtesy of a generous family member. I wasnt convinced we would enjoy it (the hotel isn!!!8217;t far from home, so it seemed like a waste) but we all had a nice time.

We did some shopping whilst we were there, saving £85. I bought some sketchers go walk. I know maman wears them, so I thought I would try a pair as they were in the sale. They are lovely and comfy and I could probably get away with wearing them to work, if I want to.

I am now off work until I start my new job. I will spend the week relaxing and declutteting the house, ready for my new job.

I hope everyone has a nice week.

LL I think you've said your mother came from Belgium? Sorry if that's wrong but if I'm right you could pick something in her language, is it French and Dutch in Belgium?

Google translate says Grandma's house is Oma's huis in Dutch.

Yes Oma and Opa are Dutch. My Belgian grandparents were called Meme and Pepe.

It's funny you should say that because when I went to view it, as soon as I stepped through the door I fell instantly in love with it. It just felt like going home, it felt oddly familiar but I couldn't put my finger in it. It was only later that evening when I was looking at the pictures that it hit me.......it reminded me of my Belgian grandparents house,......

In the second viewing I was told that the man who built it had built all the other houses in the cul de sac but had kept that one for himself. You can tell because although the others are nice, his was different, just a tad more superior in the finishes such as some fancy brickwork, the pretty windows and that really quirky front door. I haven't been able to find out more but the current vendor seemed to think the builder wasn't English. Wouldnt it be funny if he was Belgian or Dutch. It would explain why his house was so different to the ones he built to sell and why it seems so familiar to me. I shall have to try and find out more.

Actually I have thought of a couple of names that would be a homage to my Mother. She called her cottage "Rainbow cottage" because the day they moved there was a huge rainbow. I did wonder about Rainbows End.... my little forever dream house and in memory of mum and quite hobbity. I also thought of a variation of her maiden name. But keep the ideas coming.....

Just got back from DS1. Poor DIL is very uncomfortable today. We have a quiniela on the go for the footie. Winner gets £100. Just started one for the baby - just for fun - no prizes. Guess the date, time and weight.

Several predictions for my birthday......I reckon it will be when England plays so either Tuesday or next Sunday if we get through to the quarter finals. :rotfl:

  • long time no posting, My laptop died and it broke the habit, I realized that i need the virtual kick from you all. i seem to have really regressed into frumpy land this year, but lets be positive i know that it has half the year to go so if i can pull my fashionable boots up it will be ok

i spent the last while moving and unpacking. A new place but finally settled, it is peaceful but discovering new diy challenges, painting and finding decor inspiration. I agree with LL all the brightness is ideal. I must admit that i have one of your sayings LL Written up to maintain inspiration and perististance.

    so tomorrow plan.

    wash hair (find hair dryer)

    shower

make up,a little and wear a nice pair of shoes.

baby steps to return to wearing make up,

i feel like i have been so frumpy that each day forward will improve. i really need to join the gym as i have gained weight but tomorrow step 1 wear make up and nice shoes

Hi savingfortomorrow. Good to see you back. Don't worry about slipping a bit.....life does get in the way sometimes, especially during a house move! I have that joy to look forward to. Weeks of mess and disorganisation.

Hope you find your hairdryer today......I had to replace mine recently when the old one died. It's not a patch on the old one.

As a matter of curiosity.....which saying of mine inspires you. :rotfl:

Looks like another scorcher. DS2 is picking me up later, we are having an IKEA day. I will "cook" him a nice lunch whilst we are out - our saying for whoever treats the other to a meal out.

I have decided that whilst my sofas are still perfectly fine the covers are getting a bit shabby. Looking online the other day I noticed they do replacement covers but before ordering I would like to see the fabric. Plus I do love mooching round Ikea ....

It's a big week for my boys ...DS1 baby (maybe) and DS2 has a second interview on Wednesday for a new job so it's fingers crossed all round.

Speaking of hair, I really must get mine cut, its looking a bit straggly. Or as mum used to say "it's looking like rats tails". :rotfl:

    Have a great day.

Re make up, I'm not really wearing much at the moment. Eyebrow powder and gel to set it, a day eyeshadow, mascara and a slick of lippy. Don't even need blusher at the moment. Job done. Only takes a couple of minutes but I do feel better when I do it. I now have very sparse eyebrows (thyroid) and pathetic eyelashes. So I cheat........lol.

Morning all! Not been posting much but deffo keeping up on the fabbing. Even shaved my legs on Saturday! :D Been eating well and keeping up a skin routine so feeling good about myself.

I bought some of that new wrinkle stuff from Boots that's meant to be botox in a bottle, anyone else trying it? Meant to see results in about a week so we shall see...

No fabbing today as off work and gardening, so just some sun cream and plenty of water for me.

LL - that house sounds amazing, I'm so jealous! I would definitely read a restoration blog!

(Oh dear, gardening, wrinkle cream, and DIY blogs... am I officially middle aged now?)

    Have a fab day all!

    Hello Ladies,

It was an action packed weekend for me. I spent a few hours with Wayne on Friday from 10.30am to 5pm. We had a lot of fun together and it was certainly a lot more enjoyable than doing the housework which I had planned. :rotfl: We are both far more committed to each other so we continue to discuss serious issues and are finding out so much more about each other. :D

My sister J traveled on Friday from Sunderland by coach and somehow managed to miss the coach she was booked on which was due to arrive at Victoria coach station at 9.50pm. :p The next available coach she could then book had her arriving at Victoria coach station at 2am Saturday morning. I had no choice but to stay up until she arrived at my home at 2.15am. She then wanted to talk, so I did not get to bed until 4am. I woke up at 7am.

Saturday we all came together at Pizza Express to celebrate my younger son's 18th birthday. There were 17 members of my family. One of my nieces made and boxed up 20 chocolate and vanilla cup cakes which really went down a treat. Everyone had the freedom to order whatever they wanted to eat and drink as I was footing the total bill for everyone. There was so much talking and laughter, eating and drinking by all of us. :j:D:beer:

I did invite Wayne to Pizza Express as 3 members of the family had cancelled at the last minute, but he felt it would be intrusive as he would be the only non family member.

Thanks to my Tesco Clubcard Pizza Express vouchers for £230 and my Pizza Express Gift cards I bought from Tesco gift card store earlier in the year with a 15% discount, I only had to part with £10 each to the 2 waitresses who had served all of us with patience, professionalism and aplomb. :T

Myself and my sister's J and H went to the pub that I normally go to at the weekend and Wayne and one of my best friends joined us there. :D Wayne turned up late which annoyed me, but I got over myself. ;) I was tired thanks to only having 3 hours sleep, but the music was exactly what I love and I was soon up on my feet. We had a great night out, but I had to cut it short at midnight, as my legs and feet were swelling up alarmingly and I could not wait to get home and elevate my feet to start getting the oedema to abate. Wayne drove me and my sisters home. I spent about 15 minutes having a conversation with Wayne in his car, then I went home and could finally put my feet up and relax. :D

I took my sister J to Victoria coach station on Sunday afternoon and I stayed with her until she was safely on board her booked coach. ;)

I then came home to do some washing and drying, then I went to meet Wayne at the pub for Karaoke.

I sang 3 of my usual songs at Karaoke, but I was feeling quite tired. I enjoyed spending time with Wayne. I could not dance with him in hold, as the pub was really hot, despite the fans and I did not want to get even hotter.

I am spending time at home today catching up with the extra washing generated by my sister J's weekend visit and just relaxing.

Wow, sugar your weekend was full on, but lots of fun.

Lessons how was IKEA? I ended up there today myself. As I don!!!8217;t live too far away from a store, I shop little and often. Luckily, the store wasn!!!8217;t busy, so it didn!!!8217;t take longer.

DS8 has been supporting Croatia in the World Cup. His only link to Croatia is that his class are having a World Cup competition with a prize for the winner and DS got Croatia. Its great to see him getting into the spirit of it.

Lessons Id love to read your Restoration Blog , must admit im a bit of a house dooer uppper. Altered our old house a lot , and love every inch of it , ( We moved in in the 70's and all the walls were blue and bright orange ) we still havent finished as weve got a HUGE loft area, and seems a shame not to turn it into a room , DH is quite handy and can do the work himself which saves us a fortune , but we cant decide where the best place is to put a staircase for maximum efficiency. Everywhere we think , takes a chunk out of a room , plus weve never had an upstairs toilet , so even that seems a challenge as our rooms are all doors and windows, not a lot of wall space theres GOT to be another way, Maybe well have to bite the bullet and get an architect in to look , Ill have a think on the house name . A friend called her home "Tumbledown " , My house name is a mix of mine and DH surnames and it works well . we almost named it The Phoenix , as it was a real old place and we intended to make it rise from the ashes so to speak , and put a new lease of life in it , which we did over the years , . Theres lots of "Cottage" names here, Christmas cottage, Primrose cottage , hawthorne cottage etc , and i love them all , they always sound so pretty.

Tete , not heard of the Boots Botox in a bottle stuff, let me know if it works , sounds good ,
well apart from melting , i havent got anything done outside except water the tomatoes and beans , they are growing great , picked strawberrys and tayberrys too , love this time of year when we get free food from the gardens, and we exchange with friends, had a dozen duck eggs sent over this morning , and rhubarb the other day from a neighbour ,
