I've got one of those 3 in 1 jackets. You can wear it as a waterproof with a built in hood, you can zip in a lining or you can wear the lining on its own. I hardly ever wear anything else these days although I've got two nice coats and a nice suede jacket with a furry collar. I might look for a new 3 in 1 in January as mine is well worn but that is something for January I think.
I'm hopeless with umbrellas, lose them as fast as I buy them so I've just about given up.0 -
having a distinctly unfab day, i need to get my eye brows done and dashed out of the house with no make up.
i have felt tired all this week and in the run up to Christmas i have as much enthusiasm as a turkey.0 -
Good morning lovely ladies.
SFT. Sorry you are feeling low and tired. It's that time of year isn't it. I think that as the days get shorter we get more tired and lethargic, our bodies seem to just naturally want to slow down. And of course most of us can't because of all the rushing around we do getting ready for Christmas.
I sat and wrapped Christmas presents last night, will hopefully finish the rest tonight. I managed quite a good wardrobe sort out but not quite finished. The rest will have to wait now until the new year. At least I can find things now. Should make life easier.. I hate being disorganised and not being able to find things.
I'm off to acupuncture this morning, my knee has been very sore. I also need to rejig various appointments I've made. I'm just too busy really. Things like my hair and the dentists. I'll try and postpone them until after Christmas. No sense in reaching a point of overwhelm and making myself ill.
My usual pre Christmas clean through before putting up Christmas decorations is going to have to be a bit perfunctory this year, still trying to catch up with the plaster dust. . I'll just give it a lick and a promise for now and get down to business and have a massive new year declutter and clean up. :rotfl:
2019 is going to be a very busy one, but hopefully it will be fun. My thoughts are already turning towards the new year - planning, scheming, setting goals.
I'm going to make it a good one......0 -
Dies anyone have a recommendation for a moisturiser that's as good as Clinique, please?
I'm going to run out this week and, as not been to America since March, have no stock. My skin is combination - and old, of course.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
^ I don't know much about moisturisers. I use B serum from Superdrug. I used to like Clarins flash balm.
I just ordered a lot of stuff from Superdrug.:o:D Serums, oils, body lotion, a spare peach lipstick etc... Garnier has new vegan hair stuff out and I bought a lot as it was on offer. I did find a £10 voucher to use and I had some points on my card. I feel like spoiling myself at the moment.
I heard the other day that self-care isn't selfish, it's a necessity!
I'm happy as well as I tried on a charity shop dark pink M&S jumper from my wardrobe that I bought about a year ago and it now fits me. It says it is a size 14, but that is vanity sizing. Oh well, at least it fits me now. I don't really care about the size.:dance:0 -
Good for you Wednesday, if it looks good and even more important makes you feel good what does a number matter?
I can never decide with moisturisers, serums etc. Occasionally I fall for the hard sell and buy something expensive but I've never found anything expensive that was ultimately worth the money. I think Superdrug is good and you can feel just as pampered without spending a fortune.
If anyone can recommend something they think is worth the money I'm all ears.
One thing I did quite like was Lulu's TimeBomb eye cream. I might get some of that.0 -
Have I been transported overnight and woken up in Spain.:rotfl:
I am just about to have my lunch al fresco on my patio.....in December. :rotfl:
I love it. I love this house and I love my sunny south west facing garden. Had a great morning. Catch up later.0 -
Pollypenny......don't know how much you get your Clinique for in America, but I'm guessing it's very well priced there. A lot of cosmetics are much cheaper both in the States and in Europe. We do seem to be ripped off in the U.K.
I used to use Clinique a lot. I used to get it from Debenhams. They used to have some good deals. What about amazon or eBay....
As for alternatives, well it all depends on your skin and why Clinique suits you so well. I guess it's trial and error. Can you check the ingredients and then see if they are replicated in other products.
Tbh the only creams that I found that came up to Clinique standard do tend to be the more premium brands, but then I do have itchy and sensitive skin. I also like Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. Superdrug used to do something similar which was quite good, don't know if they still do it.
At one stage I got on very well with some of the Body Shops moisturiser, their Vit E cream and their carrot cream both suited me but I was a lot younger then. I also got on well with Superdrug's vitamin E range.
I do like Boots "protect" range, or whatever it's called but again they're not exactly cheap, although you can sometimes get the three for two deals.
In the past I have also used products from the "simple" range and got on ok with them, I also used to use Olay without any dire side effects but now both Olay and most Aldi creams and moisturisers seem to aggravate my skin sensitivity, especially round my eyes. I wonder if they have changed their recipes.
My skin likes the new aloe Vera cream I bought but again my eye area seems to be rebelling today, but that could be because I'm using a different shampoo. Again Aldi's. I think it might be a bit too harsh.
The problem is as we age, then our skin becomes thinner, more delicate and more prone to sensitivity. This becomes very noticeable when we are post menopausal. Mature skin will often suddenly rebel at products it has tolerated for years.
My preferred range is dermologica but I'm afraid that does come with a hefty price tag. It's perhaps significant that most beauty colleges and a lot of salons use it. It is good but it ain't cheap.0 -
Wednesday.......I agree self care isn't selfish. It's good for our physical health and our emotional and mental well being.
Well done on your Superdrug splurge, especially using vouchers and points....genius!!
Well I had my acupuncture, my knee has been really painful this last week or so. Trying to maintain my balance on a rocking ship was quite a challenge some days, I think it put a lot of strain on my knee, plus all the walking and sightseeing. I'm resting it now and then another treatment on Friday, hopefully that and just taking it easy for a while should do the trick. If not then maybe it's time for a cortisone injection.. Preferably avoid that if I can.
Had a very successful shopping trip this morning, only Aldi's but managed to get some nice Christmas goodies.
Two weeks to go......:rotfl:0 -
