Candy girl - if you can tolerate aspirin - a gargle with soluble aspirin is really helpful and soothing when your throat feels like someones gone through it with a cheesegrater!
Moisturisers list the ingredients in order of quantity - usually the first is aqua! The lower down on the list of the ingredient the less there is of it. I tend to buy something gwith a level of sun protection and if I can something with Retinol as it's the only effective ingredient for minimising wrinkles. Bio oil contains retinol and isn't expensive.

I've been doing that hun.My late doc swore by it, n warm lemonade with paracetamol.I've lost my voice , but throat's not as sore now .xx:)

Been MIA for a few days. I seem to have far more pre Christmas events this year although the actual holiday will be fairly quiet.:)

I'm assuming as you're used to paying American prices for Clinique, you don't want expensive recommendations polly. If I were you I'd give Aldi or Lidl's day creams a go. They moisturise perfectly well. I used to use them all the time until either the cream recipe (or me) changed and my eyes started watering. It's cheap enough so if it doesn't suit you then you can always use it up as a body/foot cream.

I use a Benefit moisturiser and Clinique eye cream but I try whenever possible to buy it at airports or when some sort of offer's going on.

Out to lunch yesterday and I wore my Zara maxi dress. It's already proving a winner for cost per wear. Decided to be lazy and didn't change before I went dancing in the evening and got loads of compliments. It really made me feel good.:)

No decorations up here yet. I'll do it this weekend. I'm another that tarts up the door wreath LL. I'll pick one up in Aldi, remove any rubbishy stuff they've added and then put my favourite tartan ribbon and a hanging bell on it.

It's good to have a free day today so I can please myself. Have a few errands to run this afternoon but no rush.:)
  • I'm going out in "trendy" east London this Friday night, just to have a meal and go to a couple of bars with someone.

I bought a dress (from Asda, I think?) it's a black knee length dress with silver edging down the sleeves. I will just wear it with my usual black leggings and boots. I have a Uniqlo coat that I bought last year for £1 (!) from a charity shop. It's a medium and still a bit small and doesn't actually do up yet but it looks okay wearing it open!:p

    It's this one Wednesday.

It's actually even longer than it shows on the picture. I'm only an inch shorter than the model but it's right down to my ankles. Most people would have to shorten it or they'd be tripping up. I did email Zara to tell them it was longer than described but they didn't seem interested in feedback.:(

Have a great night out. Sounds like you've got your outfit sorted.:) A coat for £1! :T

    Hi Fabbers,

I hope you are all getting into the festive spirit.

Has anyone had their eyelashes lifted as I have decided to get them done this weekend for the first time. I tend not to wear mascara anyway, but I thought I would give it a go and see how I get on with it. Very excited to see how it turns out.

Pretty dress Maman. I should imagine you'll get a lot of wear out of that. It would suit so many occasions.

Well I had to go into the city centre this morning And decided to use the bus. Plenty of time for our favourite pastime -people watching. :rotfl:

My fellow passengers certainly gave me food for thought and were a Prime example of how I don't want to age.........frail, pasty, dowdy, mobility issues, grumpy, miserable.

There was one bright spark in that sea of grey and gloom. An elderly lady, with a cheeky grin and bright mischievous eyes. She smiled readily and Said hello to everyone, thanked the driver. She had styled her hair nicely and had applied a bit of slap. She was obviously around the 80 mark but compared to the others, some of whom were quite a bit younger, she seemed in much better shape and certainly a lot more cheerful. She just seemed to have more about her, radiating joy and energy - spritely. :D

It really made me think about the aging process and once again I started wondering how much is genetic, how much is lifestyle and how much is attitude and frame of mind.

My knee is a bit better today but I still won't be going on any route marches. :rotfl: need to nurse it along.

Wednesday - your night out in the trendy east end sounds fun. Enjoy.

My latest challenge.......10 portions of fruit and veg a day. Well actually only two or three fruit and then not the really sugary ones.

I've not braved the scales or tested my blood sugar levels yet since getting back from holiday. I've just gone straight back onto healthy eating.......
  • Hoping to go to a nearby town tonight, they are having a Christmas Fayre with shops open late and lots of street stalls. Not looking to buy much if anything but it will be festive with the school doing carol singing. Depends how husband is, not great at the moment but fingers crossed and hopefully his fix of morphine will sort him out.

I've been busy, had a blood test, vacuumed the house, changed all the beds and polished/dusted bedrooms. Bathroom due to be done after lunch. Bins all ready for collection. Got to think about lunch now.

I hope I'll never be a dull n boring old lady LL:o I think my silly sense of humour, has got me through many a crisis thus far, so hope it will get me through old age, although I don't want to live forever :o.

We've a Christmas function to go to this weekend and I decided to have a look in my local city to see if I could find anything suitable. Sorry to say all there seemed to be was a load of tat covered in sequins! Nothing elegant or stylish - really disappointed. Came home and I've put together a nice outfit of black crepe evening trousers ( Joseph Ribkoff - bought for £10 in a Cancer Research shop) and a deep pink shawl collared Pr!cis top (also bought in a CS some years ago) I do always tell my DH that I'm cheap to run lol! The most expensive thing will be my evening shoes and they've well paid for their keep per wear.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
